vac sys set

I'm curios, if I add a second foot valve to my set and run the se-1 and the se-2 off of the same vacuum pump. I refinish a lot of cabinets and it would be great to utilize both modules independently. do you know of anyone that has done this? any info is greatly appreciated.
 
AFAIK, it's only possible to do this with a different pump that has separate ball valves for each set of lines, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.
 
Hi, a lot of systems use just one pump to operate many functions, this wont be cheap, you will need 5/2 valve 2 of them and 2 actuator valve and a couple of checks valves , the 5/2(5 port 2 postion) will need to be solenoid activated to hold them on or off control by the actuator and the check inline to prevent leak down.It would now be all electric no foot valve needed. Or does the foot valve just hold without being depress?
 
Let's try not to complicate this thing guys...that just drives potential adopters away. And that's a shame because it is such a sweet system.  [big grin]  It's on my short list of Festool game changers...the Domino, the track saw and the Vac Sys.

The foot operated valve just bleeds vacuum from the system, so if you run your hoses correctly, if you have 2 heads and you want to control them individually, you need 2 foot valves...3 vacuum heads...3 foot valves.

One vacuum pump, multiple heads & multiple foot valves...but no solenoid activated anything and no check valves...yikes.  [huh]

Thank you for the clarification, [member=44099]Cheese[/member] !  I definitely assumed that the foot valve was attached in such a way that it bled the entire system and there was no other way to hook it up, especially when the only other versions of the setup I found with multiple pedals were using a different pump (an Excel 5, I believe).  [embarassed]

I still have my system sitting in the Systainers and happen to have a second foot valve and somehow a second pump, but figured that the second foot valve would just be relegated to a completely different room with the other pump in case I needed to move a pod over there.  I'll have to look more carefully at everything when I assemble it.

That said, the manual for the VAC-SYS is severely lacking in this regard.  There isn't even a manual that shows how to properly integrate the T-connector, etc. from the SE-2 in with the SE-1 Set, at least not that comes with the system nor on the FUSA website (the SE-1 and SE-2 systainers I received both came with the same manual).

I've just noticed that in the last several months a lot of outlandish statements have been made on this forum and they just don't help the forum or more importantly help the members of this forum to understand the wood working ins & outs. My only purpose here is to share my wood working/metal working experiences and hope that someone will benefit from that. If you don't know the answer...feel free to not respond.

I view this forum as more than just a Festool tool gab session, and it'd be real nice if Festool also approached it in a similar manner.

This forum could be so much more than just a Festool gab fest and over the years I've tried to nudge it in different directions. There are so many knowledgeable people on this forum that have done so many really incredible things and have created so many projects, some seemingly small and others more industrial sized, but they all matter...I'll repeat that...

They all matter...learning matters...success matters...that's the reason this website matters.

Hey squall_line...break that bad boy out, it's definitely one of Festool's unsung heroes.

The foot valves just dump the vacuum to atmosphere which makes sense...not saying they couldn't be reconfigured in another manner.  [smile]

If that extra vacuum pump is annoying you, I'd be willing to dicker over a price as I've been using a Milwaukee Gast pump to power mine for the last 5 years...the Festool pump I'm sure would be a lot more friendly on my old ears. Just PM me if you're interested.

Ya, the Festool owners manual debate has been live for at least the last 15 years...no one was happy 15 years ago with the owners manuals, no verbiage has changed in 15 years in regards to the owners manuals, and true to German tradition no changes will be implemented in the next 15 years for the owners manuals.
