Hi Guys, does anyone know if the Festool vacuum (vac-sys) pump could be used as pump for wood bending? Did anyone try?
Thanks

No help for you exmarine, but I was wondering the same thing about veneer bag. Could it get the suction required?

The Festool VAC SYS VP is advertised to do 45/58 L/minute (50/60Hz mains) with an end pressure of around 200mbar.

In case you want to evacuate bags or similar and don't already have the pump: get something like this from ebay (135$, or similar) and it'll perform better (higher suction, better end vacuum) for less $. Pumps with compareable technical data to the festool one are

Well at sea level one gets ~15 psi so for each sq ft that is a ton.
Some caul sheets and clamps can also help.

I would suggest an air powered vacuum (pre) pump may be worth trying, or a dedicated vacuum pump for bagging.

Festool specs state vacuum >810. A vacuum of only 200 would be useless for veneering or vacuum forming.

Sorry, I wasn't precise: I should have written around 200mbar absolute (which is what I interpreted the 'vacuum >810' to be, as relative to outside pressure, which makes the pump look to me to be a single-stage membrane type).
