Why do the festool vacuums need a bag if you are just collecting wood chips?  The fein has the 5 micron filter for use w/o a bag, couldn't one attach a pre filter on the festool and use w/o a bag?

Ah the differences in usership. I have a Fein Turbo II, think I may have used a bag once. Still have a multi pack of bags somewhere. I have no problems using the Fein without a bag. I take the top off, put a garbage bag over and flip, dumps everything out into the bag nice and easy. For me the design of the TII works great for not using bags. The bucket hoses out real nice.
I tried using my CT22 without a bag once, what a total PIA to dump and clean out. The older CT just doesn't seem to be designed well for non-bag use. I wouldn't recommend using the older CT without a bag. The new CT I checked out at our local dealer looks better designed for non-bag use.
Interesting that nickao and I have such different opinions on the Fein.
Nickao, I'm interested in the Sortainers. If a client actually gives me a check this coming week I'll shoot you a PM and see if you still have them. P/U is no problem, I come N regularly.
