Has anybody ever applied a clear coat on Viroc siding? I'm working with a GC that's installed Viroc siding on several exterior portions of a house. He wants the Viroc clear coated with a low-sheen product.

The MFG's website says that varnishes suitable for use on Viroc boards are solvent based acrylic varnishes that are generally suitable for application on concrete. Here's a link to their webpage about coatings:http://www.viroc.pt/content.aspx?menuid=267

I've reached out to my SW and BM reps and they're kinda stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess the Viroc is the rectangular gray material?  If so does that product really need any finish at all?

It seems impervious to the weather? It's a cementious building material. I saw on houz they used it to make a planter box. I'm guessing they coated it with something?

I talked with the U.S. Viroc distributor and they recommend pre-finishing all 6 sides before it's installed with SEK Surebond SB-1300.

After getting the SB-1300 and applying it to a sample piece the GC wasn't happy with the look. Go figure. Now I'm waiting for another painter to provide me with the product they used on a different project that the GC liked.
