VECTURO OS 400 Multi-Tool Information Update from Germany...

I had a long discussion with my German dealer yesterday regarding the VECTURO OS 400 Multi-Tool system.

I have learned that the system is IN FACT manufactured by FEIN, but it is based somewhat on the FEIN FSC 2.0, not their lower, standard units. (Those Fein FSC 2.0 units are higher end and expensive). All attachments for the Fein FSC 2.0 are compatible with the new Festool. No-Name Cheapies and other brands on the market will not fit this unit.... at least not yet.

Festool DID design the Plunge unit and the other two unique attachments. They are only available on the VECTURO and will apparently not work with the Fein units.

The VECTURO has been temporarily pulled off of the German Festool site, apparently due to a delay in distribution... so you can't buy it yet, no matter where you are.

Hope this clears up some discussion in other posts regarding whether the Festool was a copy, clone, or actually manufactured by Fein.

I can confirm nearly all you say, except about copy blades, there are now plenty of third-party blades available for the Fein FSC 2.0 (Supercut). I only add this because in the past although many people were attracted by the extra power and 2 degree oscillation of the Supercut from Fein, they found lack of blade availability a pain. They then opted for the Multimaster instead. However by the time the Vecturo hits the shelves, not only should all Festool dealers keep blades but hopefully other tool dealers will be able to help a Supercut/Vecturo owner with a blade in an emergency? Therefore no-one should worry about buying a Vecturo when thinking about future blade availability.

You can purchase a blade adapter that allows just about any blade to fit any oscillating tool.

This is not correct. Fein is not manufacturing the Vecturo. Festool is manufacturing the Vecturo.

Hmmm....

My dealer told me he got that from his Festool rep.  Maybe he meant under Fein License??  (He doesn't have the best English....), But he was pretty clear that it was based on, and compatible with the FSC 2.0 system with the new accessories designed exclusively by Festool.

Don't hold me to the earlier post. Just repeating what a premiere dealer relayed to me. [embarassed]

This is not correct. Fein is not manufacturing the Vecturo. Festool is manufacturing the Vecturo.

That's interesting.  From everything I've read, this is not really a "new" product, but a rebadged Fein with some nice new features.  So either that perception is completely wrong, or Festool has invested in the equipment to make these themselves...which would seem inefficient.  I assumed this was similar to when Mafell made the OF 2000 router for Festool, but maybe it's not.

I don't think anyone is concerned either way from a quality standpoint; I'm sure it will be excellent.

It is a very good machine, I recently saw it on a visit to Festool HQ. The plunge accessory is as usual for a Festool accessory, very very good.

Just have to wait until September before we can stock them.

There are no lower standard Fein tools. And Festool can do their own manufacturing, but they probably LICENSED the design and tech from Fein.

No-Name Cheapies and other brands on the market will not fit this unit.... at least not yet.

There are already many 3rd party blades available for the Fein SuperCut and thus the Festool Vecturo.

Hope this clears up some discussion in other posts regarding whether the Festool was a copy, clone, or actually manufactured by Fein.

I thought it was already abundantly clear the Vecturo was a SuperCut copy.

The Multimaster is a great tool and good quality when compared all the copies in the market nowadays but I would argue that it is lower quality when compared to the Supercut. I had to send mine for repair within a year of owning it. I was fortunate enough to get it back to my dealer within 1 day of the warranty running out. It has since died again and this time it looks like I will have to replace the main switch unit. The first time it used to run extremely hot after very little use. I don't know what Fein did to repair it.

The third party people that I spoke to recently about repair were very used to repairing Multimasters and the general impression I get is that the MM does not have the build quality of the Supercut.

I just bought a Supercut from Toolnut and it came with an adapter that allows it to use the standard Fein accessories which is great since I have a pile of those.

I have the supercut and am very happy with it, I might take a punt and get the festool depth stop i can always eBay it if it doesn't work, unless anyone has already tried this?

I was able to retrofit the plunge base on my Multimaster FMM 350Q. Very little effort to do so. Works great. The only thing is, you can only use the plunge base in the vertical and horizontal positions only.

Can't remember what thread I read it on but the festool vecturo accessories are a perfect fit for the supercut

The only problem I had with my old mm250q was the cable broke right near the machine end. An easy fix that you can do yourself. I bet it's a common problem and I bet a lot of these people saying their feins died were just broken cables like mine.
