IMO the Festool will not be as good as the new fein super cut. Fein invented the system and they have effectively given this design to Festool who have developed it further. The new version will most likely have the vibration damping as the new multi master has. Fein may be getting royalties for every Festool sold since they are actually losing sales to Festool by giving exclusive rights to their technology

interesting since the patent has run out.  who knows which is better, need to do a side by side test drive.

Yes patent has ran out hence every major professional  tool manufacturer producing their own as well as cheap DIY manufactures.

However the Festool is actually using the fein supercut with a body makeover and positive refinements and the development of Festool bases etc

But fein probably have a patent still in place for vibration damping hence other manufactures have not incorporated this as well as Festool.

I think the new fein super cut will be better but may not have the Festool accessories but I have never had the need of such devices as I can comfortably do everything with my multimaster with ease. I just can't decide whether to replace my multimaster with new version or wait for a new supper cut I am unlikely to go Festool

Ill be getting one. I got a older fein that drives me crazy because the bolt that holds the blade keeps coming look. Maybe I need to go to the hardware store and buy a star washer.
Maybe that will hold it. If I cant find a wawy to stop that bolt from coming loose, Im done with the fien

The Dilema

Multimaster on its last legs, dust control with multi tools not great (be it Fein or Festool) so hose to dust extractor not an issue.

What is the solution?

Cordless Fein supercut now or Vecturo or hold out for a cordless Vecturo (how long did it take after release of TS55 to develope the cordless version?)

I have the Fein Supercut and love it...however just about every other power tool I own is Festool as I am a fan! I hope that Festool now go and release a bunch of blades and sanding attachments for their new Vecturo as in my view Fein do not have a very comprehensive offering...whereas some after market guys offer cutters that you cannot get from fein. I would see the following as needed:
> Cutter for metal in different sizes .Here i think Festool with their Bimetal technology could offer something that Fein seemingly cannot.
> Some diamond powder or carbide powder grinders that last a lot longer than the Fein ones ....These are typically used for removing grouting between tiles or the black Sicaflex between teak planks on a boat deck. In my experience these do not last too long and are very expensive.

I have often wondered why Festool have not bought Fein or made a partnership as their product lines and quality are of a similar level. If you look at the copy cat product from Bosch and its price it seems to me that the margins for both the Fein and Festool Vecturo products must be very good!

I could se a Vecturo in my future, but I'm a little fuzzy about the full range of things it can do, so it's not high on my list until I sort that out..

I got the fein supercut when toolnut had them on sale,or regular new price,and all I can say is "wow". Came in a systainer,so it fits the other tools I have,
It is one of those tools I can honestly say " how did I live with out this"
It is my go to tool,and hasn't let me down.
The festool version should be every bit as good plus what ever they put in it as well. Btw this is my first multi tool,but I'm glad I got a fein,and not some knock off.

I asked about a cordless version at a recent Festool roadshow and was told that there are no plans to develop/release one. Shame as I'd buy one.

Think they're hitting Oz in the next couple of months. My Festool dealer will put one aside for me by default.

To me it's all about the plunge mechanism - thats the differentiator!
