Venturo OS 400 - Cut when removing blade from package

I just bought the Vecturo along with about 30 various blades.
One of the blades is design for cutting chaulking (SSB32  500137).
As I was removing the blade from the package the blade fell out of the package.
As the blade past by my hands it cut the tips of 2 fingers.
I was amazed how sharp it is. My second thought was why wasn't the sharp end of the blade not covered with protective covering like the rest of the blades.
This could be a simple fix.
I really don't like bleeding over brand new tool that hasn't been used.

The coating on the toothed blades is to protect the teeth of the blade. No teeth on the scraper blade, not need to protect the edge.

Think about it, once you removed the protection how would you handle the blade?

So you cut yourself on part of a tool that's designed to be sharp, and thought that posting a complaint about it in a board entitled 'Festool Tool Problems' would be somehow appropriate?

Admittedly, there isn't a board entitled 'I Just Did Something Really Stupid', so I can see how you might have been confused...

Sorry to hear you cut your fingers.
It's easy to do with those blades.
I came home after work yesterday with a cut on my thumb. Don't know where I got it but it stung like hell.

After cutting yourself did you get to use your Vecturo?
It is a much better machine than the Multimaster. I like the stand.
Using the Vecturo will help you forget the cut.

Tim,

I put a lot of stock in your opinion so I'm interested in your statement that the Vecturo is a much better machine than the MM.  I'm wanting to upgrade the Bosch that I currently have and have looked at the MM, Supercut, and the Vecturo.  I like that the MM has sanding attachments and that the new version has been reworked to make it quieter with more power and less vibration.  For what I use my Bosch for I'm not sure the attachments for the Vecturo would get much use.  Thoughts?

Sorry about the cuts. I discovered Ninja gloves after at a Festool class in NV and now use Ninja flex and skins all of the time. They have reduce my hands injuries by 90% without reducing my dexterity. The other advantage they are slightly sticky so your tools don't slip.

I also be interested in you opinion about the Vecturo

Thanks, hopefully my opinions don't lead you too far astray.

I was a reluctant Vecturo buyer. Initially I saw no reason to buy a more powerful version of what was working well for me. I thought I would have to move up to the super cut eventually. The stand sold me.
I have used the MM for every project I have worked and when the first one I bought stopped working in the middle of a project, I bought a new one that day so I could finish what I started. That is how much I rely on the machine. I have used the dust attachment and the sander and find that they work well for detail work. So there is a place for the MM in my work and I absolutely love it for accurately cutting holes in drywall.
I dislike cutting holes in the back of my cabinets for electrical outlets and have used many different techniques (jigsaw Jigsaw & MM drill and MM etc.) to do this cleanly but I have never been really satisfied with the outcome/time/stress doing this creates. When I can I use my router, but this isn't always the case or even practical. With no commercially available escutcheons for different appliance outlets, creating accurate holes on site in melamine cabinets that fastidious clients look at every day, the Vecturo really shines. I can get accurate, clean cuts, with virtually no blade wobble in less time than I did with any other combination of tools.

Based on the reviews the Supercut should be simalar to the Vecturo. I do appreciate the plug-it, particularly when changing blades or adjusting the stand.

I wasn't aware they updated the MM, I have two so I really wasn't in the market for more. Less vibration is a relative term, I would love it if it had no vibration, but the variable speed helps with this.

That is the issue, if you don't use it in your work flow, or don't see a need for it then it's a waste to have it. It's a bit like the MFK 700, because of the attachments there is really no other machine I have found that lets you do specific things really well. When you need the accuracy and the additional power over the MM it works very very well.

Hope that helps.

Russell the Supercut has not been upgraded yet, only the MM. I beleive it is getting upgraded in 2015.
