Eric - How about when you use a non plug-it tool such as your RS2 sander, or a workshop cleaning set or general cleaning up, do you find the plug it tail on the hose gets in the way at all?

I was wondering the same thing, on both questions. The RS2 is currently the leading contender for my 1st sander purchase, and I also use the Installer Cleaning set, on a regular basis.

The RS2 must be a real slow mover in NA for them not to upgrade ...http://www.festool.com.au/epages/to...ooltechnic/Products/567678/SubProducts/567678

Festoon does not promote the RS2 very hard either, as it was the only sander not included in the 2016 Festool Roadshow.  I've considered waiting a year to see if they upgrade it.  Having said that, I have several projects that it was made for; leveling a large flat surface and light sanding between coats of shellac.

It also reminds me of the sanders I grew up with and remember using (less the dust extraction of course), and thinking it would be a good first sander for my son.  The fact you can use inexpensive sheet sandpaper in a pinch, has it's appeal as well.

I bought and used this hose almost since the day it was first sold. I love it. I don't own any non-plug it tools so can't answer on that. However, when I use it for general clean-up (mostly for bigger/longer clean-ups), I use a Wrap N'Strap to strap the cord to the hose so it is out of the way. For smaller clean-up jobs, it really isn't problem to just hold it tight with my hand to the nozzle or hose.

Note: In case you are not familiar with Wrap N' Strap, check wrapnstrap.com or a Woodcraft if you have one nearby. I use them for anything where I need to wrap 2 or more things or layers together and hold them securely. They come in at least a couple of sizes/lengths.

I take a few pieces of velcro and wrap it around the plug-it cord and hose.  It's sad that the RS2 does not have a plug-it.  [sad]
I don't use the RS2 as often as the ETS EC 125, so it's no big deal for me.

The curved handle of the compact cleaning set and new hose is not the tightest fit.  It works, but you have to be careful not to get to crazy with the two connected.  The new hose will pop out on you.    I mainly use the cleaning kit with my Ridgid shop vac and Rockler Vortex combo and a 36mm anti-static hose.
