So I just finished up building 5 more SYS Ports for my shop.  And, I recorded the building process.

I've received a lot of messages from guys asking for dimensions and info on them over the past few months.

Since I needed a couple more SYS Ports, I thought this would be a perfect chance to record the process and share what I've done.

BUT !  December 1st  will bring more systainers to my shop.  So I will need to build another SYS Port.....or two?    [big grin]

Hope you guys and girls like the video!

Take care,  Eric

Great job once again! I love ur videos! The pocket screw thing what hilarious, I just bought one so much faster and cleaners !

Thanks!    Yes, the Kreg Foreman does make drilling the pocket holes much faster and the dust collection is very good!

I'm very happy I bought it.  I picked it up at 10% off plus I received the Micro and HD bits for free.  A local woodworking store had a open house with a lot of vendors showing off their tools.  Kreg was one of them with a little bit of a sale to push me over the fence on buy it.

Great vid, good show how on the shelf hole drilling for mounting your slides.

Unrelated - I picked up a set of mag shims after seeing your video on them.  Man, what a useful little tool they are!  I use them all the time, glad to have learned of them via your youtube channel!

I was just about to make myself some sysports in December as a summer project. Thanks heaps - I enjoy your other videos too.

The only other question was whether your cabinets happen to be a 32 "standard" inside width (if there is such a thing)? I was thinking of the Sys A/Z slides that Festool makes to see if I might use those, and wondering if they might fit into the cabinet you designed.

I see that you have some sysports that are taller than 1m, but you seem to utilize their upper parts for other stuff. How high up would you say that accessing systainers becomes inconvenient? Is 1m the magic number or could one go higher? (I'm 187cm tall so max 1m sounds a bit low down to me)

Great job on the video and many thanks for making them. I enjoy watching all of them - my favorite being the kitchen cabinet install (because I, too used a stud finder only to find an electrical line). I hope you will be making a video review on the Kreg Foreman. Something I intend to buy in the future.

I'd worked out that 1.4m was about the maximum for me to be able to still see the contents and easily remove tools. Obviously you'd need a SYS1 at this height as an optimum configuration - you don't want to be trying to pull a TS75 out of a SYS5!

But I do plan to go higher with shelves, and then at about the 900mm mark, have a pull out "table top". Then I can store less frequently used items, but still have a surface to put them on when removed from the shelving.

Eric,

Excellent video and very helpful!  Thank you for sharing it.

I just have one question about that guy with the beard.  Did you bring him back from the log cabin in Hartville?  [big grin]

It was great to meet you in person and chat a little on Friday.  I hope they get a chance this week to pour the concrete for your shop build.

Eric,

You are the Jedi master of how to videos

Eric is also environmentally conscious…

My inside cabinet width dimension is 460mm.  The Festool drawers needs 427mm width to function properly, according to the SYS AZ manual from the Festool USA website.  So you'll want to follow the manual for the SYS AZ's to make sure it works out for you.

I had a old 2009 Festool catalog laying around.  That's where I pulled the measurements from for my sys ports. I was trying to mimic the Festool sys port as best I could.  Mine are just under 1100mm, that's with the casters.  If I went any taller, I would stop at about 1300mm, that would give me room for a sys 1 on the top drawer.
The taller cabinets are fixed to the wall.  I had planned on having drawers go up the full height, but as you can tell, decided against it.  I didn't want to pull the sys out of the drawer to open it and pull the tool out.  Kind of defeated the purpose for me.

HEY Mike !  The guy with the beard was someone walking down the street, I asked him if he would make a special appearance in the video and he only wanted to be paid in M&M's !  Good thing it took him just one take to get it done.    LOL !

I don't want to talk about the concrete.  It's not going to happen this year.  The weather is not cooperating with me.  I'm a little upset about it, but, it's only concrete.  It will have to happen next year.

It was great to chat with you buddy!  My shop is always open to Festool junkies !  If you're ever in the neighborhood stop by!

Did you get a chance to talk to Larry about the polishing steps?

LOL !    I had to google "tribble"      [doh]      Good one buddy !    [big grin] [thumbs up]

Eric,

Good video as usual.  If you still need to build 2 more for the Dec 1 arrival, that is one heck of a haul.

I love your videos but I've been saving this one for the weekend when I can enjoy it.

By the way you googing tribbles made me feel old - kinda hurt, just saying  [mad] [mad]
