Video of new tl15 impact driver

Nice find

Looks mint but it has an adpater to make into a drill mode I wonder how much extra length and weight it adds to the front of the drill.  Veribale speed is a plus!   Looking from the video it seems to drive the screws in a little slow but it's hard to tell really.

I would like to try one out before i buy!

its got nothing special about it, i hate using an impact driver to drill because its just the wrong tool.

i actually used the prototype and it is very cool.having used the prototype i think it is great.i wish i could post pics but i promised not to and i only mention it now because of pictures of it already being out.

Thanks for the video Lee.
You the man!

Well, it looks pretty dam good to me!
It ticks all the right boxes so far.

1. Weight....1.7kg (Good)
2. Built in L.E.D.   (Good)
3. Stainless Steel belt clip.  (Good)

JMB may be right about the slow speed.
Hard to say from the video.
Also sounds pretty good, but it's hard to tell from a promo video.

Looks like I was wrong about the Centrotec chuck not being compatible with the Impact Driver.

Can't wait for this to become available.

I might have to fly to Germany for a long weekend.............

Justin.

Thanks Lee great find, amazing that Gerschwitz had this video that early! I hope this was released on purpose.

Since I never had or used an impact driver, I have a general question. I thought you could switch between impact and normal drill/ screw mode, but it looks like the TL15 needs the extra adapter for normal drilling and screwing mode?

The beauty about the T15  is the small and short design and with the Centrotec drills and bits it's very convenient to handle. The TL15 looks a little out of balance with the adapter attchached and switching from impact to drill mode looks a little uncomfortable.

So the question is if the TL15 can replace a T15 or C15, with an additional CXS, or if it's better used as a sepperate impact driver? As much as I could use the TL15, I would hesitate if it can't 100% replace the T15.

The specifications on the Dutch website don't seem to make sense.  Apparently the maximum torque of the Festool impact driver is 100 Nm.  My little Makita BTD142 is rated at 1280 pounds-inch = 144.6 Nm.  The big Hilti is also rated at 144 Nm.

Am I translating the Dutch incorrectly or is there some other explanation of why the Festool impact driver appears to have wimpy impact specifications?

It appears what this brings to the game, is actual use as a normal drill, boring holes and such.  Using a regular impact driver, drilling doesn't work so hot, eh?
Also, although the front-end adapter isn't ideal, you'd only have to bring one tool with you to accomplish the full array of tasks.

I wonder if the adapter also can fit the eccentric / offset Centrotec adapter?  (I think it VERY likely that it does fit).
That would make it an impact driver, a fully versatile driller, and a fully versatile installation driver.

At least 50 people expressed interest in a Festool impact driver.  Now that one appears, why so much crabbing that it isn't magic wand shaped and doesn't come with afterburners??!  [blink]

I don't see any reason now not to be able to say this since the cat is out of the bag, it's way too long from front to back with the chuck mounted, it's too slow and weak impacting and I feel the designers didn't go about getting the feedback and implementing it well.  Think about the target customer.  This isn't something a furniture maker would need and a cabinet installer might like the impact feature for use in mounting cabinets, but it's not terribly important there.  Deck builders and window installers -- yes.  Framers and other forms of trim carpentry not previously mentioned -- doubt it.  The designers should have gotten a hold of top quality competitive impact drivers during the design phase.  Just so you know, I'm not really into "all-in-one" products, since they usually don't handle each item well that they try to emulate.  Pretty darn sure I'll just upgrade to a C 15.

Magic wand shaped and afterburners? Yeah, maybe.

It's really too early to know how it will hold up and perform, but without the afterburners, I'm not sold yet. :)

I think its good as like you say it can do more than a normal impact drill I have drilled holes with a impact drill and its crap but this festool adapter removes the impact for drilling holes but the adapter is what puts me off as it seems to add weight and length to the drill it would of been nice to have a on and off switch instead. Then I would love it more!

it still seams noisy as yer man has ear muffs on.
i presume the impact only works with the chuck and centrotec bit and not the 90 degree part.

if so its a deal breaker for me as a better or equal impact is half the price and has more power.
if the adapter was integrated into the body and just turned on it would be ok. the 90degree impact would make be think about buying  it

when is the oficial info release date as that video tells us nothing definite

last day of september for the tool but when will they officially anounce that it will be out then. when the carvex was anounced it was talked about for months before the release date
