Video of new tl15 impact driver

Ha!

Well, looking at the vid again:

1) the first decking appears to be oak, but there's something about. It's either nicest oak I've ever seen, or it's a composite material made to look like oak. Something about the two "stripes" that can be seen on it. Machining for foot grip?

2) the thick timber looks like pine or doug fir. Softwood for sure. Do they have those in Germany? I know they have spruce (makes good guitar tops!), so maybe it's that.

In any event, I don't know how much of that I'd need anymore now that I have a Domino and everything looks like a M&T joint to me...  [big grin]

It sure looks like it would do the trick for me and reduce the number of tools. I always have a big honkin' corded DeWalt (in it's own Systainer) if needed...

I should be calling in there this week, i will give one a try out  [big grin]  My mate had a look at it today but went in to a state of shock when he heard the price  [eek]

john...

local dealer is dropping makita cordless because of the returns but keeping the corded stuff because it is good stuff. Milwakee is gonna take its place

Have they become worse more recently then?

My brother has a cordless Makita drill I'm quite certain he is very happy with, but then he's had it for a number of years now...

I have yet to come across a less-than-awesome Festool tool, so I'll be surprised if the impact driver doesn't turn out to be more than what this thread makes it seem...  Impact drivers are very nice for driving in Tapcons after having poked the holes in concrete.

It appears what this brings to the game, is actual use as a normal drill, boring holes and such.  Using a regular impact driver, drilling doesn't work so hot, eh?[/glow][/glow]Also, although the front-end adapter isn't ideal, you'd only have to bring one tool with you to accomplish the full array of tasks.

I wonder if the adapter also can fit the eccentric / offset Centrotec adapter?  (I think it VERY likely that it does fit).
That would make it an impact driver, a fully versatile driller, and a fully versatile installation driver.

At least 50 people expressed interest in a Festool impact driver.  Now that one appears, why so much crabbing that it isn't magic wand shaped and doesn't come with afterburners??!   [blink]

Wood, I had to look at your location as I am in MN and thought you might be here too... [eek]

So, they don't really show it, but I'm assuming that's the regular FastFix Right Angle Chuck that fits on there, and so the Eccentric and Depth Stop chucks will ALSO fit on the TI?

Thanks.

Rexy called me 2 day letting me know  some info about the drill and cost! I forgot how much he said lol!    I remember him saying it will come as   a SET or drill with batteries(normal) or you can have it NAKED with a T-loc 3  but he thinks da is wrong because the SET and normal comes in a T-loc 1  soooo seems odd the get the Impact Naked in a larger T-loc  so hes going to find out if its a miss type or something.

It comes with two 3.0ah batteries  and RPM is 2500 in drill mode faster than the T-15 and the impact rate can be turned down  as you all know from the video posted

Just wish I could remember the price!    I kinda remember the Domino XL  its about £780 I think he said I think it was plus VAT so its not that expensive dont hold me to it ill ask him 2 moro and write it down I was to busy and had to go.   The Domino XL can also be bought with two types of T-loc assortments  I cant remember the sizes  but a T-loc full of thinner dominos and a T-loc full of thicker dominos  but with all various length sizes.  Also Dominos can be bought at much longer lengths than 140mm  so you can cut them Down he said but I dont see the need for Dominos like 700mm long?  any one have a reason for it?  I wonder how much them Dominos cost!

Let me translate the JMBerrish:  [poke] The TI 15 will have a maximum speed of 5,900 RPM with a variable speed dial for dialing in the desired speed.

Rexy just emailed!  Hes not sure he will clarify 2 moro  but he said  I think the domino XL is 770.00 + the impact drill set £458.00 + vat

JMB

The T/C drills are 1,500 RPM max. Maybe I have my spec wrong on the TI 15 because 5,900 seems really high but that's the number that's in my head rattling around. Not in the office, so I can't check for sure.

Which equals  $745 US for the Drill, so let's hope they don't do it as a currency conversion!

if it's 5900, will there be a built in Tac with red line indicator so we can all get clear? What's the blast radius?

The 5900 sounds very impressive, the protool 4 speed drills have a max rpm of 3800, which is a lot more than any other cordless drill, so I checked the video, and if you pause it at 0:13 it looks like it reads 2500 as the max rpm.

Sooo I was correct when I said 2500 Shane [poke]  [tongue]?!?!?

I think JMB and Frank-Jan are correct with regards to the RPM.
2500 RPM sounds right.
The Protool has 3800 RPM and to be honest I never use it at this speed.
I have found the motor cuts out when using any drill bit bigger than 5mm at 3800 RPM.

I am curious to know about other Protool owners.
Do you ever use the drill at max RPM of 3800?
I find the number 3 speed setting to be the most common setting on the Protool drill.
The Protool cordless drill is great and I am considering buying another one. Definitely the best cordless drill I have ever owned.

Thanks for the info with regards to pricing JMB.
I am looking forward to purchasing the Festool TI 15 Impact Driver Set and a skin when it becomes available.

Regards, Justin.
