Video Review of Festool OF-1400 (574267)

I actually had a friend bug me about when I'd get to the OF-1400   If he could put his shoes on in the morning with a router, he would.

This video review covers the OF-1400 and nearly all of its accessories, including a few from the MFS.  Everybody here knows what a router is so I wanted to go over the parts of the router quickly, point out stuff for those who haven't handled one, but a large part was explaining some of the, uhmmm, less than well documented accessories like the feeler bearings and how I use them, or the table widener's special uses, or... you get the idea.

So now that I hope you'll think it should be interesting, I have to say I couldn't cover it without the review being long.  So get an amber, have a seat, and click the little triangle (please)   Hopefully you'll get something useful out of this.

Very nice video review.

I have solved my label issue by using the tape from one of the window insulator kits;

Carefully remove the label, wipe the label and sys with alcohol, line the back with the tape, align it on the sys, press in place. Works really well.

I have also used the tape to hold the loose ends of the guide rail strip. Works great for that also and no mess. If I ever reposition a rail strip I'll try the tape over the entire length.

Ah, good idea, Tom.

In my case, I'm okay with labels as on the sides, I have "piggie" labels from Peter Halle.  Peter printed up custom labels for a small bunch of lucky piggies.  As my "SysPort" bench stores the Systainers side-out, the self-removing labels are basically hidden except when I pull them out.

But, for those who weren't ridiculously bored at work sitting on the FOG refresh key and caught the "first 5 to respond" posting Peter made, your solution looks pretty promising.

Cort: thanks for the compliments, too.  While it makes little sense, after you get your first Festool, you'll like it enough to quickly forget the bill.  Just keep in mind that after buying the first, you walk a fine line by a green n blue precipice and it's easy to fall in, wallet willing or not.

I have an OF2200 that I got as a replacement for an ELU that is now in my router table. 

I have changed the bits on the OF2200 the same way I used to change them on the ELU.  Lock the shaft, give the spanner 1/16 of a turn, remove spanner, put spanner back on the nut, turn spanner 1/16 of a turn, swear.....remove spanner.

Then I see you ratchet the bit in....and I think "my OF2200 has the same rocker".

Duh!  I thought I was good with machinery.
