I used the RAS-115 quite a bit on a sculpted vanity I made recently; it was my first major project with the sander.  Thing is, it comes in handy for so many other things, like removing bits of thinset when redoing tile, honing natural tile edges, feathering off "I don't know what" from patio concrete, shaping wood (à la sculpting), coping, and stripping paint.  I think it is the first Festool I have that qualifies as a "just get it so the day you need it you have it".

I have a write-up on my blog about it besides the video included below.

Review of Festool RAS-115 Rotary Action Sander with Demo!

Great video as always Paul.  I loved your tag "just get it so you have it when you need it."  It really is a versatile tool and in such a way that most folks would never think of it.  Unbelievably easy to control, and precise, when you get the hang of it... while still being a monster.  Quite a unit.

Great video as always.  Can this unit really take the place of a polisher?  I'm not about to get a Shinex, and the RO90 is too small to do large areas.  I know it can go down to 1500 rpm...is that slow enough for slow-polishing tasks?  I've been eyeing the Makita 7 inch polisher for working on the cars, but would much rather get the RAS.

Great review, P-M.  One thing I learned at Lebanon was to hold the RAS by the angle head in the cup of my hand when scribing or doing coping as you showed in the video.  This makes the RAS much easier to control when doing fine work.
