Visiting Las Vegas, any place I should check out?

Hi Gang!

I will be traveling to Las Vegas in mid-March to compete at the National Xball League tournament. I'll be neck-deep in paintball from Wednesday night through Sunday, but since my flight back to Minneapolis doesn't leave until Monday evening I was wondering if there were any woodworking or construction-oriented stores/exhibits/points of interest I could visit?

I already inquired about visiting the Festool training facility, it sounds like it will not be staffed on Monday  [sad]

Any suggestions are welcome, in the mean time here's a few video from last year's event, can't wait for the season to begin!

The best meal I had in Vegas was at Capo's Restaurant & Speakeasy.

It's a mob-themed joint with throwback entertainment and great food.

I am picturing the scene from the Fargo TV series where the fellow from Ely runs into BillyBob in Vegas.

[eek] Las Vegas to Monument Valley is 400 miles!

You could throw money at the problem and get a helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon - failing that, you could watch the fountains at the Bellagio and go for the Seafood buffet in the Rio.

My second ex-wife and I found the revolving restaurant at the top (well, almost) of the Stratosphere an unexpected treat.  We never missed it whenever we visited.

$$$ but surprisingly good food served professionally.  Make your reservation for an hour before sundown and enjoy how mother nature puts the man made improvements to shame.  The dining room makes a full revolution in one hour.

Take in as many Cirque de Soleil shows as you can, well worth the coin.

I'm not sure of any woodworking type places to go, but people are offering restaurants and other activities so I might as well join in.

As mentioned, Cirque shows are some of the best shows I've ever seen. I've been to almost all of them. "O" and the Beatle's themed "Love" are my favorite. "Le Reve" at the Wynn Resort is really good as well although it technically isn't a Cirque brand.

The best Steakhouse I have ever eaten is Strip Steak in Mandalay Bay. Pricey but worth it for the rare occasion.

As mentioned, In N Out Burger is a fast food burger that is amazing for what it is, a fast food place. Has a huge cult following but is really good and worth trying and incredibly cheap. Around $5-6 for a meal.

Vegas has incredible architecture in huge buildings with a ton of details and high end finishes if you are going to the nicer places on the strip. As a builder, I enjoy walking through the hotels as much as anything.

Good luck at your event. Enjoy the trip, it is a fun place to visit.

The Valley of Fire State Park isn't too far of a drive and well-worth the visit. We went intending to stay 2-3 hours ... ended up staying all day. It's amazing and beautiful. Make sure you bring extra water, though!

Red Rock Canyon is close by and worth the trip. You could
even fit it in on the way to or from a visit to the Hoover Dam.

Death Valley is a neat place to visit but its an all day (long drive)
trip and take plenty of water, no matter what time of year it is.

Look close in the back of the second photo over my left shoulder
and you'll see the Stratosphere.

Theres always the festool training facility in Henderson, the Rio and Texas has a great Buffet. Your not to far from the North Side of the Grand Canyon and about 4 hrs from the Virgin River Canyon in Utah. Oh course as Tom mentioned the Heart Attack Grill, get yerself a Quadruple ByPass and some Fries good stuff....
