So I was all ready to place a huge order for Festool stuff, and I decided it was best to wait a day before hitting the order button. And I was glad I did.
I picked up the Makita Track Saw kit with the Plunge Saw, 2x5Ah batteries, 2x battery charger (this thing is awesome compared to the standard single charger. MSRP $150) and 2xSystainers to hold the saw and batteries. All shipped to my door in 36 hours, tax free, for $360.
Yep, that's a great deal!
I also got the Makita cordless router kit, with plunge base, fixed base, parallel guide, charger, a Systainer, and 2x5Ah batteries for $270
Yep, that's a great deal!

Since I was bargain hunting I decided to try the Makita 55" Rails from Home Depot. I read about various problems people have had with the rails over the years, but HD is easy with returns, so I ordered. Either those problems have been worked out, or I got lucky, but these tracks are great. I mean, I wish Makita had coppied the Bosch rails, but I won't fault them for the terrible design. I don't have the Betterly alignment jig and the saw glides across the rail connection without a hickup. Here's a link to a short video of the saw on the tracks.
Anyway, I thought this might interest some. I did have to use a 10% off coupon (it's "SAVE10"), but I came out with a fully setup tracksaw with tracks/rails, batteries, systainers, chargers, and the awesome Makita batteries for only $508 total!
I need to order the Mafell dust bag to use with this, and that's not inexpensive, but all in all I'm thrilled.
I got these tools from VmInnovations (and I've no affiliation, I just like bargains and helping other people get a bargain). If that's not permissible to post here, I understand, and I hope a moderator would edit it out of this post rather than trash the thread =)
