So I was all ready to place a huge order for Festool stuff, and I decided it was best to wait a day before hitting the order button. And I was glad I did.

I picked up the Makita Track Saw kit with the Plunge Saw, 2x5Ah batteries, 2x battery charger (this thing is awesome compared to the standard single charger. MSRP $150) and 2xSystainers to hold the saw and batteries. All shipped to my door in 36 hours, tax free, for $360.

Yep, that's a great deal!

I also got the Makita cordless router kit, with plunge base, fixed base, parallel guide, charger, a Systainer, and 2x5Ah batteries for $270

Yep, that's a great deal!

Since I was bargain hunting I decided to try the Makita 55" Rails from Home Depot. I read about various problems people have had with the rails over the years, but HD is easy with returns, so I ordered. Either those problems have been worked out, or I got lucky, but these tracks are great. I mean, I wish Makita had coppied the Bosch rails, but I won't fault them for the terrible design. I don't have the Betterly alignment jig and the saw glides across the rail connection without a hickup. Here's a link to a short video of the saw on the tracks.

Anyway, I thought this might interest some. I did have to use a 10% off coupon (it's "SAVE10"), but I came out with a fully setup tracksaw with tracks/rails, batteries, systainers, chargers, and the awesome Makita batteries for only $508 total!

I need to order the Mafell dust bag to use with this, and that's not inexpensive, but all in all I'm thrilled.

I got these tools from VmInnovations (and I've no affiliation, I just like bargains and helping other people get a bargain). If that's not permissible to post here, I understand, and I hope a moderator would edit it out of this post rather than trash the thread =)

Here's the video:

I just had to buy that deal. I didn't even really need the stuff, but I miss my old Makita that died after near 10 years and I can see using that cordless palm router all the time.

I thought I had a 15% discount but it didn't go through, still 220.00 off those tools new is a steal and no tax either so that's near another 60.00 off.

Amazing value, we'll done!

I'm not sure what you've heard about makita rails... But having owned and used Fes & Mak track saws and rails  side by side for over 5 years... The only issue i have with the Mak tracks is that the blue glide strips eventually wore grooves in to the base of the saw. The festool strips are better, as in they barely wear on the saw at all.

The only other issue i ever had with the  makita saw was that the rail  adjustment knobs (on base plate of saw) wobbled  loose every single day!! Hopefully they fixed this on the new cordless saw, as it was a complete pain if you are going to maintain your splinter guard cut line on the rail and maintain acuracy closer than 1.5mm. Which you obviously want if you've bought a track saw.... Hoping that have sorted that issue for this saw! It was a ridiculously significant yet simple weak point for the corded saw.

I checked the website and did not see the advertised deals. Strange website/format. Like a clearing house place or something... a cut rate amazon?

They are there you just need look harder.  :)

It's not advertised, it's just under the items price and it's not in the search unless you use very specific terms. There are 2 or 3 places that sell it for 399.00, but VM has the 10% coupon right now and had a 15% I missed a couple months ago. The coupons aren't really advertised unless you land on just the right page either. Everything I ever purchase on the net I search the website name followed by "coupon code" and most times I find at least 5% or free shipping  at one of the coupon websites.

When you search use the model number like this:

Makita XPS01PTJ

or this for the router:

Makita XTR01T7

As per usual.  They don’t ship to Canada.  That really sucks.  I don’t understand why no one is selling a Makita X2 Plunge Saw bundle in Canada.

Any company that uses google express checkout system can't ship out of the USA and VM uses google express. Hopefully this changes for you some day soon.

I would always forward any "gift" to you if it's a matter of just getting an item more than ship cost(it's not cheap shipping from here to Canada).

I'm glad some others got a great deal too. I also missed the 15% off, but 10% off at that price still has me smiling.

The adjustment knobs seem high quality on this model. They're very tight. Time will tell, but it does seem resolved.

This is super YMMV deal but you might want to check out Home Depot stores.  Mine had the saws in clearance section.  Marked at $400 but computer showed $250. I offered $200.  They accepted.  I bought 3 and sold 2 of the saws for $200 each.  I ended up with the track saw, 6 5a batteries, 3 chargers plus the 4 boxes for $227 including tax.

Problem is, that would have required a time machine to arrange. Makita brought-out their track system not long after the original TS55 appeared - more than 10 years ago
