Hello Everyone

We are bringing some Walko Workbenches across the pond for some of our customers. If anyone from the FOG wants a Walko Workbench please e-mail me directly at Dan@ultimatetools.ca

We plan to have the order in Sunday night. The price is:

- Walko 4 $799
- Walko 3 $749

The prices are FOB Ultimate Tools and require a 50% non-refundable deposit

Here is a video on the Walko Workbenches.

If demand is very good we will consider stocking them down the road but at this time are doing pre-orders only.

Thanks
Dan Clermont

Not much notice there!

and I apoologize for that but we just did a big order for several workbenches and are offering to piggyback smaller orders with it.

Can't really hold up the other customer who has already left his deposit

Didn't mean to come across snarky, I can't afford it in that short a span of time but would be interested in future orders if they come about.

Send me an e-mail so we have your address on file and we can let you know when the next order comes around.

Who knows, if the demand is good we'll consider stocking them although our store is small so we'd have to throw them in the warehouse.

Cheers
Dan Clermont

What would shipping be like to Ontario Dan?  Ballpark.

And is that price for just the rack or is there a table included?

That is complete

Shipping shouldn't be more than $80 and if it is less we'll charge you the EXACT shipping. We try to be fair about shippng charges as we are in the market of selling tools and not a shipping company

Thanks

I'm thinking about seriously again.  Trying to figure out whether to get the smaller one or the larger one though.  Anybody recall a good thread on that issue by chance?

not sure about a thread. but i have the smaller one. when im ripping full sheets i often wish i had the bigger one. but sometimes when i move it from room to room without folding it up i am glad it is smaller

Thanks Alan.  Since I posted that query, I have since determined it would be the larger unit I should get.

I want it somewhat to rip long pieces from full sheets that I would not want to struggle with on my Unisaw insofar as squaring long sheets along my fence while cutting, and simply using the Walko to do such in lieu.  In having the Walko support the off cut from becoming disengaged at the end of a cut for such purposes would be the way to go with my varied length guide rail using my TS75.  The W4 achieves this imo, whereas the W3 does not facilitate this for me.

Now the question is, do I want to spend the money on this extra ease/efficiency in my shop.  Still pondering somewhat, but I think I'm sold this time.

Reminder.  Deadline is tonite (Monday) at midnight Pacific Time.

I still haven't made up my mind whether to get one, and which one to get in fact.

How is the Walko 3 for cutting down sheets?  Is it a PITA versus the W4?

i find the 3 a bit narrow . sometimes when i cut off a rip the other side tips up and you have to catch it.
it it was only for sheets i woud get the 4

Thanks for your feedback Alan.  After weighing all the pros and cons, I did in fact end up going with the W3.  I'll see how it goes.  I suspected pretty well what you mentioned, I just hope it is not agravating me on a steady basis for that purpose, and is only the odd time which I think I can live with.

that only really happens when you rip a small bit off a full sheet. because you have to shove the wider part over to support the smaller piece. the weight of the overhang will make it tip

Thanks again Alan.  That's what I was assuming would be the issue of rip sheets with the W3 vs the W4.

I may want to get the wall brackets, but I can't seem to find any pictures of how they function, where they affix on the Walko unit, their size, nothing on the internet, and I spent probably two hours last nite looking around.  Just pictures of them on their own with a poor explanation of how they work that doesn't tell me what I need to know.  Does anybody have these and can help me figure out whether they will be suitable for my needs.

Where I want to affix it to a wall, there is very little clearance above where the Walko would be, so do I need to slide it off the bracket pulling the unit upward? That would not work for me.  I have found out that to place the Walko onto the wall bracket, you simply push the unit onto the brackets and the unit pops in, but for removing you slide it out.  I may still be able to slide up, but only if the brackets do not need to be affixed near where the top of the unit would be standing up.

Also, I need to know their dimension themselves.  How far do they protrude from the wall once affixed to the wall (without the unit attached).

Where I would like to install them is on the inside of my garage door, but when the door is opened, and the brackets would be overhead, they can't stick out more than a couple of inches, otherwise a taller person than me could rip their skull open accidentally bumping into them.

i dont see a need for the wall brackets. i often just put mine against the wall and its fairly stable. you can move it forward if you want to but it doesnt do it itself.

i got  2 pieces of the leg extrusion and the metal insert in the legs . i plan on putting them on the wall in the shop to have somewhere to put them when they arnt being used on the legs

Suddenly it occured to me that I may be able to get my answer off the .NL site, essentially Walko Tools B.V. Norway.  Did a google translate from Dutch to English, and voila, there's my answer.  [smile]

http://www.walko.nl/img/documents/Manual%20wandbeugels%20LQ.pdf

I even found a picture that shows them in use, but no video, it's "coming soon".  Yeah right!  [wink]

All the owners manuals for Walko stuff is here.  Just got to translate the webpage, and you're off.  The manuals, while Festoolish  [tongue]  poor with hardly anything written, do have some instructions in three languages, fortunately one is English.

http://www.walko.nl/documentatie.html

They even have a page demonstrating routing out the bottoms of the holes so that Festool clamps can fit.  Wonder if they got that off of Frank Pellow?  [unsure]
