Nick, once again I detect a slight over-reaction on your part. If we all got angry and quit over each little disagreement, this would become a very empty place.
I had voiced a thought that we were treading on potentially deep waters way back at the start. i do not, at this time, have the time to go back and locate my post, but Matthew has done the right thing. You are, yourself, in business and you have indicated you send your wares all over the world. In your experience, i am sure you have been well aware that there are many ways in which one can be tripped up by their own good and best intentions. If you are not aware, I fear you will eventually be introduced to a very precipitous experience.
This "Walko Drawing" had come about with nothing but the best intentions. Since the whistle was blown, i have read many posts indicating how good and great the intentions were from all of us. Had I been blessed with enough time to devote properly to the effort, i might well have jumped in with both feet with an effort to assist. Wasn't one of the choices indicated by Henrik to send it to Tinker>>>.? I took that as a tongue in cheek humor, but was never-the-less flattered that i had been singled out. Should I now fire back at Henrik that he was deliberately trying to get me into trouble?
No way. I have never met the man (Henrik) face to face, but i consider him my friend. I have read many of Matthew's posts thru the years. I have not always agreed with him. Nor, on the other hand, have I always disagreed with him. The same goes with my perceptions of your own posts. There have been many of your posts, Nick, that have been waaayyyy over the top. I have, in fact, suggested more than once that you "calm down" as you do seem to take any remarks a tad too personal should you find your disagreement in the subject matter as presented.
In this case, until somebody can show me proof that this forum, its members, its contributors, Matthew and, yes, even you who have been collecting the money with the very best of intentions, would be held blameless under any conditions by any who might be of authority thru any audit, I, personally applaud Matthew for his late position in this matter.
I would have jumped in on this sooner, but, for the past several weeks, i have been embroiled in a very heated debate between a commission committee that I chair and a local sports group. this has been a disagreement that has been going on for over 4 years. sometimes the arguements have gotten quite heated. Had we all decided that such disagreement warranted walking out, the whole kids athletics situation would have been a total disaster in our town. In this situation, i feel we might be doing Matthew and the entire forum a huge disfavor by walking away just because some feel he has been out of line. I, for one, do not feel the need to do so just because you feel the need to show your own disfavor. Let's think about the old indian prayer (Native American to make it politically correct) that goes to the effect: 'Before I judge a man, let me walk for twelve moons in his moccasins' Not necessarily the exact wording, but I should be excused for not have a tape recorder on hand when it was first made known to me. Nick, try walking in Matthew's moccasins for just a little while.
And at the same time, try to calm down >>> just a little.
