I live in Santa Rosa,CA and am a hobbyist and very new to woodworking and have purchased Festools. Would anyone in the area consider allowing me to come to their shop and watch them work? I'm still setting up my Festools. Richard

Aha, a voyeur is amongst us  ;D  Good luck, I hope someone in your area can help you out.

Richard,
I'm in Massachusetts, so I can't help you.  But I know we have several members out your way.
Take photos!

Right here on the FOG, there is a section on HOW TO.

Jerry Work and Rick Christopherson (sp?) have done some fine work showing all of us how to set up and use Festool toys.  John Lucas who has woodshopdemos.com, has some very fine story/photo descriptions for many Festools as well as a large assortment of demos for non Festools.  Others have shown, thru replies to other posts, very good descriptions of how they have done things.

I would guess that since you are just stepping onto "the slippery, slippery, slippery slope," you could probably gain far more preliminary experience thru checking into these items.  I have always found i have more questions to be answered after I have learned what questions i want to ask.  That only comes with experience.  Once you know what questins you want to ask, you would find far more value from watching someone in their own shop, or in your own.

Have fun and get yourself some non-skid boots to help avoid the above mentioned s,s,s slope ::)

Richard-

I think I may be the closest Fogger on the list.  I live up in Geyserville - about 20 miles north.  I have pretty much a Festool shop - I do have a planner in addition to my hand tools.

It is the only way to fly, IMO.
