Warning about Festool Junkie website

I have done business with Timmy C. in the past and spoken personally with him.  He is truly a very likeable, down to earth guy.  Just the kind of person I could imagine sitting around with discussing tools and woodworking over a cool drink.  Until just recently, I could not understand that anyone could have anything negative to say about him or the way he does business.

It is difficult to argue when so many members of this Forum have had the same basic problem with a vendor.  I just wish Timmy would get on here and address the issues, as difficult as it might be for him to do.

My guess is this that the loss of his Father along with this lousy economy has put him in a tailspin that he is having difficulty recovering from.  I know some people are just more open about discussing their problems than others.

Timmy, if you are out there, please do us the honor of posting a few words to let us know that you are OK.  Things may be difficult right now but maybe getting it out in the open with friends might help.

Neill, very true words and probably one of the toughest things a person can do when there is seemingly nowhere to go and no-one to turn to. It is however the first step to getting most everything resolved and understanding that those that can't be resolved are for a reason.

Kind of piling on, but I had a similiar experience with festool junkie.  3 weeks after my order was placed and it the majority of it still hadn't shipped.

I wish I would have read this before I place an order with festool junkie.

You would think that during these though economic time business would be alittle more costomer friendly

Hi MTRANGER - Sorry to hear about your troubles.  Check your credit card!  Merchants are not supposed to charge your card until the goods ship.  If Festool Junkie is acting the same, most likely your card has already been hit.  I would recommend going through Bob Marino @ www.bobmarinosbesttools.com!  I ordered a bunch of stuff from him.  He is great.  I'm West coast and he is East Coast, but that did not prevent him from responding to my e-mails even late at night, PST! He must not sleep.  [eek] Anyways, I got my entire order in about 5 days.  One item was shorted on my order and he took care of it immediately.  Great friendly service!  Good luck.

i think amazon is much better than any at this moment.  I have a prime account, that is only 75 dollars a year and I have unlimited 2 day shipments.  If i want to return anything, they schedule ( amazon does) for the shipment company to pick the item from my DOOR.  You cannot beat this deal.

Good deal

Gotta stay with Bob Marino.  He's simply the best - WAY better than Amazon.  If you're only interested in saving money, then Festools aren't the way to go anyway.  Its all about the quality and service.  Anyone can look like a champ when things are going well, but Bob is the epitome of great service even when they don't - or especially when they don't!

Go Bob!

Thanks for the tip and I already made the switch to Bob Marino and I couldn't be happier right now.

My experience as a manufacturer supplying retailers suggests it is likely that the retailer is behind on payments to Festool and is on credit hold.  Items in stock at the store ship quickly to help their cash flow, but if the item is not in stock it cannot be ordered from Festool until past due bills are cleared up.  Unfortunately, this is very common in our current economy and in my market it has been close to 50% of my dealers being in a similar position.  This probably explains why some have the normal prompt delivery while the rest of us needed to work through our credit card companies and find another dealer.

[size=10pt]I really hate that businesses treat customers like that.  Even though I don't have an official business I do sell Domino plates on here but I won't accept orders or money until I have a batch of plates made up & ready to send out.  Since I "borrow" my friend's machine shop time I may have to wait up to a month or more before I can make a batch of plates -- as a customer I would be very upset if I paid someone money and then be made to wait an undetermined length of time for the product.  I guess thinking about it, BCT operates their business in that manor but at least we all know upfront that we will be waiting ~months for their product.  [unsure]  In their case they also subcontract the machining and wait until they have what I consider extraordinarily large order quantities to get the best price break.  I've discussed that with them, in this day of CNC the practical sizes of their run quantities can be 1/10 the size they wait for with good pricing.
At any rate, the refund on the credit card is an entirely different issue that is well within the control of the business.  [sad]

I think there should be a section about Retailers.  Kinda like Ebay where you can leave comments good and bad.

You can go to the Retailer section see if the dealer you might be going to deal with soon if they are in the section FOG and see if they have had good or bad feed back. It can be about any dealers! but mainly festool retailers.   This will attract more people to fog because hopefully when they look for retailers on google to see if its safe to buy from this retailer they might be buying from it might bring them here!   Just a thought!

I have had many positive experiences with Festool Junkie/Timmy.  It is obvious that Timmy went through some difficult times.  When a man is down, it takes a bigger man to offer his hand then to step over him.  The loss of your business is a big enough statement, there is no need to continue bashing.

I think that many of us have had positive experiences with Timmy C. in the past.  If you read the posts here, most of them have good things to say about their relationship with Festool Junkie.  I personally posted about a month ago respectfully asking him to respond, as tough as that might be.    He did not.  I think we all appreciate the hard times he has apparently been going through and have given him the benefit of the doubt.

The probelm is that the first post in this thread was almost two months ago.  For nearly this whole time the complaints have continued to come in.  Until just recently there was silence at the other end.  Timmy did apologise in a post a few weeks ago, but the complaints have continued.

I feel for those members who depend on their tools for their livelihood and have been let down.  I hope everything turns out well for all involved.

It is now been three weeks since I requested a refund for the good I did not recieve, with several calls and email sent with no reply.

My next course of action it to dispute the charges through my credit card, and turn them in to the Better Business Bureau.

So is this guy Timmy still selling tools ?  I could understand everyones problem getting refunds if he has ceased trading but it is extremely poor show if he is still operating & not returning calls or emails.  If this IS the case then it sounds like a very dodgy outfit to be dealing with.

There seems to be plenty of really good dealers right here on the FOG so i cant understand any members here buying from Timmy !

Just my thoughts, for what they are worth,

Woodguy.

I have no horse in this race, but given the age and content of this thread I don't understand why anyone who hasn't purchased from him in the past would want to play this 'lottery'. I can (maybe) understand those with (good) history having customer loyalty.

For myself, I will continue buying from Uncle Bob. I like getting (what appears to be) a personalizes email confirming and thanking me for my order regardless of how small it is. Although I have never purchased from him, it is my understanding that this is how Tom operates as well.

I am sorry that Timmy/Festool Junkie is going through hard times. I hope that he is able to `right his boat`. But in the meantime........

This forum is a tough crowd. Either at your feet or at your throat. It is the retailers behavior that will determine which one.  One had best be prepared! [2cents]

for what it's worth....

i've not bought much from timmy, but at the time i did, he was a very stand up guy....
spoken with him a few times voice, liked the guy, liked how he did business.
his business conduct and service was second to none i have ever received.

as they say, that was then, this is now, and things seemed to have changed a lot.
if there was a death in the family, that can spin someone, but there seems to be
a lot more to it than that.

i was gonna look on his website for some stuff, and googled it, and lo and behold,
this thread is the freshest link to him that could be found.

seems like all of his websites have been de registered on domain name servers....
so, for those seeking resolution of outstanding orders with him, these seems to be
the closest links i can find to festool junkie / Lincoln Hardwoods:

Lincoln Hardwood and Tool Co
2001 Southwest 5th Street, Lincoln, NE 68522

===============================

i have his cellphone number, if you have a need
for that, send me a private message, and i will
give it to you.... i don't care if the guy stomps
bunny rabbits and clubs baby seals, posting
private contact information on a public forum
is unacceptable.

however, so is committing credit card fraud,
which is what seems to be going on.

sorry to see this... i really liked the guy.

The simplest thing to do is have the credit card company back charge.

I don't care if its a year after purchase, if you did not receive the merchandise just scream loud enough to the credit card company and they will back charge. You will get the money back through the credit card company. He will have nothing to do with it.

Always use a credit card, not a debit card for online transactions, believe me as a seller I have been screwed where a couple buyers said they did not receive the merchandise, I provided proof UPS dropped it off and the credit card still back charged me. You have a lot of power you don't know about using a credit card. Do not take no as an answer from the credit card company.

Skip a complaint to PayPal too if you ever use them for a transaction, just go through your credit card company with a formal back charge request. Paypal is great, but did you ever notice they try to steer you away from using a credit card. They always asks "do you want to send a direct check" for every transaction. That is so they can not get back charged! People get denied from paypal, BUT they have to honor a back charge from your credit card company. IF paypal denies you then the credit card company will make it much harder to get your back charge so just skip complaining to PayPal altogether(if you used a credit card and not an instant check or debit that is).

I have never had an issue with Festool Junkie, ever, just saying.

It appears they are out of business.
