Warning to CMS users - You cannot use Side and End Extensions together

To all CMS users;

If you have a CMS Unit and you want to extend the table both sideways and lengthways be aware that you can not use the folding end extension table (Extension Table VL - 492092) and the sliding side extension bar (Support AF - 492242) together.
When the folding end extension table is in the up position the end of it is so close to the CMS leg unit that it does not allow enough room for the clamp that holds the support bar from the sliding side extension bar to clamp onto the V shaped moulding on the end of the CMS leg unit.
This is not a problem if you have the fixed side extension table (Table Widener VB) fitted because the sliding side extension fixes to that, not the CMS leg unit.
I have made Festool UK aware of this and am waiting for them to come back to me.

I emailed Festool UK with this problem and had no reply, not even an acknowledgement of the problem.
I left it for a week and sent it to them again, still no reply or acknowledgement.

I have kept my Dealer (Jaycee Tools) aware of this and after another week and a half with no response, Andrew at Jaycee forwarded my email to the UK Sales Manager. The UK Sales Manager has now replied apologising for no one coming back to me and has forwarded my email to Germany.

I am somewhat dissapointed that for two and a half weeks no one from Festool UK bothered to even acknowledge the problem and it is only when my Dealer directly contacted the Sales Manager that I get a response.

I am a relatively new Festool user and expected better customer service than this from Festool (no complaints about Jaycee).

If I ever get a response from Germany I will post another update.

I have had this reply from Festool UK

many thanks for your patient. I had a reply back from my colleagues in Germany. They of course understand your point and will look into it. The main point why we haven't produced longer VL holder to get a bigger distance between the plates so far is the transport aspect. If you have parts staying further away from the unit they are likely to break or bent easier.
I will keep you updated on this process but it might take some time till I will receive the next update.

I am not sure that in Germany they have fully understood my proposed solution which is to extend the VL supporting bracket by 40mm, this has no implications regards transport.
However I will wait and see what response they come back wiith (if any) and then post another update.

Can you send them a picture/drawing of your idea for a solution?  That might speed up getting a response.

I have sent Festool UK photos of the problem and a drawing of my suggestion for the modified bracket so they have all the info they should need to resolve it.
If they decide to adopt my suggestion and re-design the bracket then I cant see it being a quick fix. It will have to go through the design process with all the change controls etc and the instructions will also have to be re-written to accomodate using the end extension both with and without the side extension.

Will report back with any progress.
