Warranty + ISC240

Been checking the Festool ISC240 saw for prices because I’ve ordered one and wanna see what going prices are. 

I came across a Dutch website Toolnation selling the ISC240.    Having lived in Holland I read it said 5 year warrenty!  Then read it says 3 years Festool and ToolNation adds extra 2years

That’s pretty good that!  How? They aren’t selling the tool for a lot more compared to U.K.

Can’t wait to get the tool! I hate insulation and having had a go with it I don’t want to go back to using old cutting methods. 

I believe it’s the next TS55 rail saw but for insulation.  It’s game changer at an affordable price.
I know Mafell do a good one etc but their prices are unreasonable for your average trades man

It cuts lovely! 

Only real negative side I discovered so far.  Only the serrated blade fixes to the wheel base. 
So as soon as I get the tool I’ll have to get my grinder and metal drill bits and get modifying I think.

It looks like this wavey one can also attach to the base: link /edit: that's the serrated one, I thought you meant the version with sawteeth.

I've ordered a few times from toolnation and it have been good experiences. Normally I don't buy tools from a webshop, because I have to be home for the delivery, I also have needed warranty repairs in the past, and I like being able to drop the tool off at a shop I go to regularly instead of mailing it.
But when I needed to replace my ts55, which got stolen, I really wanted the updated version of the ts55r, with the bevel stop at the front, and all the toolstores I normally go to only had old stock (and festool was sending them the old stock they had, and wouldn't give them the later productiondate tools (allthough the updated model was in production for half a year by then).
The guys at toolnation checked the saws they had, and they did have the new models in stock; and they had the dustport I wanted; the 5 year warranty and were a lot cheaper.

At the moment I am looking for a new vac with automatic filtercleaning and most stores are getting rid of old stock and are discounting the older models. I want to get a ctl26 ac hd, and toolnation sells the version with the smooth hose for less than the discounted price the other stores want for the old model.

Check out www.nonpaintstore.nl for good deals on Festool items too. I've ordered from both and they've been fine. I found out I actually live near Non Paint Store so I go there now if I need something Festool. They're more product pushers than experts but their prices are good and they deliver.

Not sure how that 5 year warranty would work from UK or even Belgium though.

Btw I just checked out that insulation saw and couldn't believe the price! Fortunately I don't have to cut that stuff all day so I'll just stick with my trusty insulation knife for the few walls I need to do. I can't even really tell the benefit, I suppose it would be slightly easier to make a very straight cut but I've never had a problem with precision doing it by hand, it doesn't generally matter if you're off by a millimeter with the softer materials anyway...

I find it strange how your dealers lack behind with updated Festool kit even more so because of where you re based.

Yeah I believe Festool Germany must think people don’t want to use the teeth blades version which is for cutting your hard dense insulation like kingspan using the wheel base.

The reason I want to is because I soon discovered when trying the tool using the traditional method of placing the rail onto the sheet and cutting it my rail slipped sideways.  Festool rail doesn’t grip them well on the insulation especially once it gets the dust in it from cutting

I already thought of a solution for that as soon as it happened. 

Festool would either need to supply a rail with different rubber/sponge type stips designed to grip better on this kinda material.

OR

A accessory which slides into the groove underneath with two small pins sticking out.

As you place the rail it sticks into the insulation

I don’t do a lot to be honest hardly ever to behonest.  I hate insulation

However soon as I seen this I knew it would be a game changer.

It can cut soft and hard insulation

The soft depending on type can be a pain to cut requiring you to compact it down and cut with a knife or saw .  The Festool just slices easily I was able to cut it in mid air holding insulation in one hand and tool in other.  Cut it like butter.  This would make life easier when working on scaffolding etc.

Then the hard insulation.  It cuts square saves having to flip the sheet every cut.
Once I’ve modiefied it I’ll be able to cut from bottom of sheet so no need for a bench and over hanging the material to allow for hand saw to clear bench.  When is a pain when the sheets start getting smaller and want to tip off. 

I’ll likely do a video when I get mine easier to show the benefits than explain

Mostly done rockwool but it cuts it like butter, I used a sharp but non-serrated knife before and know what you mean about compacting the sheet but this serrated one makes it super easy. YMMV, I'd just feel bad on spending that kind of money for it. You could get Mafell P1cc for that kind of money, or an OF1400 or something.

I have a bunch of acoustic foam panels to cut to size and will have heaps more in the months to come so I might actually get one myself - never thunk I would be interested in this contraption but for three months straight I will do all types of insulation!

Not even had time to play with it.

Only bought it for a couple jobs which I have in the pipe line and that’s pretty much it.

However I did have ago with it before buying it on release and it  does what it suppose to do.

I don’t think you would be disappointed.

I bought the complete package.

Only to discover the blade for cutting kingspan type of insulation does not come with the slot in so it doesn’t fit onto the roller cart.

It’s simple solution angle grinder and cut a slot in it.  It’s a wearable item so won’t be a warranty issue.

I will be modifying mine because I think it will be usefull to use the rail fence kit on kingspan and not just Rockwool.

Reason it came to my attention is because I found cutting kingspan from from above means you require blade clearance bellow the material your cutting which annoys me.
The cart runs on the supported surface either floor or bench so no need for bellow clearance.

Another reason is  Festool rails don’t hold well on dusty kingspan they slip so I thought  using the cart would be a better solution.

Another solution I’ve come up with is to insert blocks with pins or nail sticking out on the underside of the Festool rails

So once you place your rail down onto the kingspan it won’t slide.

I did a few cuts and at end of cut I was 1/4 inch out.    Can’t have that
