The warranty is transferable if you buy used and is valid for a period of three years from the *original* (thanks Brice) date of purchase.

Just so everyone reading this is clear, I believe Shane means valid for a period of three years from the original date of purchase.  You don't get a fresh three years buying a used tool.

And of course you should verify that they registered their warranty or supply you with an original receipt.
