I just finish up a laundry room cabinet project. This is the first time I have built a cabinet around the washer and dryer.

I am wondering how most people do these type of installations.  Do you either lengthen the hoses and power cords so that you can pull them out past the cabinet or do you make a removable top?
This customer wanted easy access to the shut off in case of a disaster. And I don't blame him, this is why he is getting a new laundry room.  His old washer had a leak and flooded out his upstairs laundry room.
Because the washer is sitting in a plumbed catch pan, you cannot slide the washer out of the cabinet.
Here is a cleat system I did in order to make the top easily removable yet solid enough that the spin cycle would not move it around.

Like your solution; it would be quick to get access to the machines with your toggle-clamp solution.

Nice solution.

That said I hope one never have to repair the washer/dryer. Can you slide out the washer in the pan if needed after the connections have been taken off ?

Yes. You Just have to lift off the top and remove 2 pocket screws in the top rail and lift the washer over the pan.  It's not ideal but its the only solution I could come up with.

great idea,  my wife has actually been bugging me to build cabinets around our washer/dryer (of course she doesnt think of accessing the utilities down the road so she thought it should be sooo easy  ::) )  ive been racking my brain thinking of different solutions on how to deal with this, i have to say i like this better than any of mine, much more clean looking.    i'd love to use it mysef

thanks!!
