They're awesome.  It means you don't have to have the WCR1000 Workcentre tied to the extractor.  Or you can take the workcentre part off and use the rolling stool separate.

personally i cant think of a reason to put the workcenter on top of the stool
if you want a stool it is for sitting on doing aqward or percise jobs. . but in those situations the workcenter being near you on the vac would be usefull to store the tools ect.
having to take it off is a neusence.

they should make a 2 drawer syport for underneath so that the vac can be seperate.
or some other super storage and organisation gismo we would all love

Yeah, not really a stool when the WCR is on top.  A Sysport or just have a second drawer in the "stool" when it is used as  the base for the WCR.

Each of the six cabinet makers working for me has a personal rolling tool storage case. These are typical of set construction and grip departments in movie studios. Besides those we have 9 rolling shop carts on casters. They have both a bottom and top tray. We put shop towels in the top tray to protect tools placed there. Our stools are round and adjust for height. In 1971 I bought one of those for myself from a hospital supply store. Often they are used by doctors during medical exams. As I recall it was not expensive. In 2006 I modified that stool by increasing the size of the casters. Before I opened my new shop in 2010 I bought 8 more of those stools, with the larger casters already installed.

Of course when making cabinets most of the time we all need to stand. All of us have seen the WCR. They seem swell. I have used them during classes, but I have not bought one. All of us in my shop are so used to using the shop carts with the towels.

I made a work center type setup once. For an artist.. I think it's a nice function. I'm thinking about the work center with stool idea. I'd have to get the cushion extra.

I'd like to keep my tools close by, where I'm sanding and doing prep work, so this idea is really nice..

The bottom heavy design, the sturdy rack peg board, the tool hooks.. Everything you need for a quick setup..

I think the stool unit makes more sense as a holder for the WCR as the vac might get a little awkward to pull around with all that weight on it.. I think it makes more sense to have a boom arm on the vac, a Systainer with lighter things in it, and perhaps the one tool hook..

As to price for the unit, I suppose if it's made much lighter and sturdier than I could make it out of wood. Then I have to consider the time sourcing the materials hardware and putting together.

Thinking also if it's mostly meant to be used as a shop based setup or if it's something that's light enough to take to a job are some factors that I'll have to consider in depth before I'd spring for this setup..

It seems like the specifications on the Festool uk website are missing the weight  unit, knowing that would be a help in estimating how portable it is...

Please post a photo. I am planning on building a mobile unit like the stool to put my work center on. That way I can put one of my extractors under my MFT and get it out of the way, then roll the W/C over to my MFT when I need the tools.

I'm no longer near the artist who I made my work center for, but it as basically a wheeled cabinet much like the type food tray type things they use for patients..

I've stilll got a untamable desire for the workcenter with the bench unit..UCR 1000 I don't need to sit down while working, what I like about the unit not attached to the vacumn is the stability of it the base weighs in at 26 kg!. That thing is solid and is not going to tip when a heavy TS 75 or a couple of sanders, hoses fixings and so on are sitting on it..

It's the ergnomics of the workplace, that get improved by this gear..Protects your back, speeds things up as you get a routine associated  with working where tools and accessories get returned to their perches as a matter of habit.

I might end up with 2 SYS 3 Sortainer 4 on the Universal Work Center, a tool systainer on the CT as well as a hose boom arm..

All this would be pulled out for working and then pushed back into a lockable closet in the shop..

Systainers will generally only be used for storage and transport.

I could make a heavier duty cart to stack the Universal Workcenter, the Tool Systainers Sortainers, the CT to pull over longer distances..

Here the problem, the more you load up the W/C the harder it is to move the CT around. it also makes it a hassle to empty the bag.

Thats why Im going to build a cart/ stool to set the W/C on and just leave the CT under the MFT.

I think the CT shouldn't be overburdened, it would be a nuiscance if you wanted to do a quick shop cleanup, or change bags, max 1 or two Systainers...

Good luck on building the Cart.. I was thinking of getting a vacumn adaptor and attaching it to a homemade cart so you could attach the WCR to that..

i had the wc on my ct for the longest time, now that i got the boom arm and wc near my mft3 i can roll the wc/stool around with me and my work. ive stacked my sortainer and sys storage on top of the wc and love this setup. it was a burden to move around the cyclone/wc/ct combo.

It sounds like a really nice setup,, its an investment in egronomics and it pays off in saved time and eases your back gives a good workflow..

its sure it! by far my fav festool accessory. used to be all over the place searching for recent used tooling now its within grasp and everything has its place. i noticed that im way more productive with small projects and now when its done i have little to no mess to clean [big grin]
