When the WCR1000 was first announced I looked at it and thought that it was overpriced ($475 CDN) and wouldn't be that useful. Then Brice and Paul got theirs and did videos to show how they were initially setting them up. That got me interested enough to get one. The unit gives me the ability to have my most used Festools close at hand and organized. The WCR1000 has now been out for a while now, how useful has it been to you and if possible post pics of your setup and modifications.

i dont have the festool workcenter but do have one i made myself. they are a great job . everything is at your hand just where you want it. i was inspired by paul and brices reviews . i cant wait to see what they and every one else has done to their workcenter

Your first impression was correct its beyond stupid how dear it is,I think it is a very good product and I would very much like one for my 26, but not at £350.00

perhaps at some point sanity may prevail and the price reduced to a more realistic one.

£350. [eek] Good Lord I got one for £220 [big grin] [big grin]

They are good another nice bit of well thought out kit.

I haven't changed mine much since the original preview video.  I use it a lot; love it.  The one change I made was suggested here: use a Sortainer instead of the Sys4 I had there.  Very handy for the dozen or so things that were poorly stored in a toolbox on the far wall.  I shouldda had Seth autograph the Sortainer before mailing it out...

There is one nuisance with my WCR setup and that is with the WCR on a Sortainer (or Systainer), the WCR isn't locked down; for me, it is just on that friction fit surface I previously had on top of the Systainer.  This is a nuisance when I roll the CT-22 off the rubber mat floor to get it out of the way.  Where I normally park it is just concrete.  When rolling it back onto the mat, you usually have to tug pretty hard.  If i do that on the handle attached to the WCR, the WCR can sometimes start to tilt instead of moving the CT.  If I put some well-placed Domino into the friction-fit top that attaches the WCR to the Sortainer, it would be locked much like a stacked Classic Systainer.  Someday :)

Nice one well done, still a lot of folding though. I think a fair price would be more around the £150 mark I may have to wait some time [big grin]

The WCR is a godsend for me.  Being both lazy and absent minded, I tend to put a tool down wherever I am when I lose interest in it.  I have most everything I need for routine work on the WCR now, including:

4 router collets
about 20 drill bits, with a 1/8 inch centrotec, the centrotec countersink, and the centrotec bit holder in a special easy to reach/hard to miss chunk of cherry with 3 holes drill for the bits
saddle square
double square
twin pack bit assortment
4 router wrenches
Domino wrench & cutter set
assorted small files
guide rail interface for OF1400
porter-cable bushing interface """
brush
glue bottle
tdk 12 drill
Domino
QWAS dogs
edge dust extractor for OF1400
8 clamps
remote for the radio
scratch pad
assortment of pencils, pens
old toothbrush (for cleaning stuff)
router bit systainers with about 20 bits
hand driver for hex bits
eraser
card scraper
ear protection
safety glasses

with the TS55 in a holster on the other side of the MFT, I really only have to get up to get coffee or go to the bathroom - and I'm working on that [scared]  [cool]

Where did you get the red/orange blast gate that fits the Y adapter for the CT26 ?

I think you have every inch of the WCR used. There mots be several thousands of dollars worth of tool on it.

I think there should be a new contest to see who can get the most festool product on a Work center.

The blast gate was found at a HD in the central vac department a couple of years ago, they don't seem to have them anymore. I've also seen one listed at Busy Bee Tools that I think will work, but I haven't tried it on a vac.

In my case the ability to unclutter my MFT's made the purchase worth it to me, I had full intention of returning it to the dealer if it didn't work out. Now like Jesse I'm waiting for the coffeemaker attachment and toilet paper roll mounting bracket.

Thanks I will check that out. HD always surprises me just when I think they are totally going downhill they have something really good for ex. those Ridgid flip top stands are excellent.

Were they the 2 1/2 inch  gates?

Greg

Yes 2 1/2" OD I think, I will have to check next time I go to Busy Bee to see if they will work like my orange gate.
The ID of the orange gate is the same as the ID of the Festool Y end (2 1/4"). The single end of the Festool Y OD is the same as the ID of the orange gate. (2 1/4"). You need a 2 1/4" OD sleeve to join the gate to the Y. So I'm hoping the Busy Bee gate has the same dimensions. Hope that makes sense.

I was considering the wcr, I saw that one extra hook(double universal) was a little over 60$(CDN), a similar good quality slotwall hook that is rubber coated would be around $7.Is $60 for a metal gridwall hook over the line ?? Normally I will be the last one to bash good quality/engineered tool pricing from a country with fair wage practices, but $60 jeez, its a bent metal hook. . . I guess if you factor in a steel mine, refinery... I'm thinking now of an aluminum frame/composite slotwall - rolling tool caddy, independent of the vaccum...or just drink some more green kool aid...I would like to hear any feedback or impressions from anyone using and moving the wcr on/to a jobsite.

I am a kitchen installer and use my WCR1000 & boom arm almost every day i love it . i think just having a place for hand tools, power tools ,parts, pieces ,glue, micro pinners is very efficient for me. I wheel it around the job like a tool cart. When the job is complete i put on my truck and take it to the next project.

I would have bought the hook along time ago for the boom arm  but I could not bring myself to spend the $60 for a hook.
