Hi,

Do you know a website that shows woodworking work? Modern style.  My taste is more modern and it is hard to find sites like this.
I search google and I can see pictures of end tables, tables etc, that match my style, but I don't see a place where it is discussed techniques, problems, materials, etc.

Do you guys know anyone?

Fidel

don't know of a specific website, but as far as magazines go, I like Furniture and Cabinetmaking out of the UK. Latest issue had a great article on design and they often go all over the place for articles in terms of style, from very modern to classical European, Japanese, gunsmithing, you name it. love that mag

How are you subscribed, Ghost?  Getting a print version out here is prohibitive (last time I looked). They have an electronic subscription, but everybody was complaining that their reader app is horribly buggy.

I have an electronic subscription. there were bugs in it late last year but I find it's pretty smooth now.

I haven't found any forum which describes what you are looking for, but I don't think that should hold you back.  Most techniques and materials are the same, its about how you execute your design. Just because your style differs, doesn't mean that a technique won't translate.  A mortise is a mortise regardless of the style.  I'm sure if you had a photo, people here could figure out how to build it.  I don't think my work is in line with the taste of many here, but most of my techniques are simple and straightforward.  IMO, half of the fun is figuring out how to build what you want.

houzz.com has a lot of great design ideas and I believe they have a discussion section, though I have never used it.

Good luck

Dude, I love your stuff!

:)  Thanks man!

I just meant that my stuff isn't what people here traditionally build.

Totally off topic for GhostFist: A buddy of mine got a job on a TV/Movie set building shop in NYC. He does on site work also and absolutely loves it. He isn't convinced that Festools are worth it or that they will speed up his work...  I've been trying to bring him to the dark side.

Fidel,  post up some of your work.  I'm sure people here would enjoy seeing it.

Up here in Toronto there's a slow conversion to higher end tools such as festool, but the majority of guys are lugging Makita. I get to bring more of my kit because I'm kinda my own crew and have a specialty position (at least for this show). The way it works up here is larger machines are supplied by the department head and individual crew members supply their own basic kit. A couple of drill's a hammer various hand tools and marking measuring stuff. It's the long term guys you see with the fancy gear.

Waiting for that qua-drive!!!!!

Hey Fidel, I have lot's of pictures of modern (as well as other styles of furniture) on my website www.CustomFurniture.us. I also write about how I go about building my projects in my Furniture Blog on the site.  I don't know if it's what you're looking for but you might find something of interest there. Good luck.

Scott
