Weird Rockler online experience

Preface: I have purchased from Rockler several times and the experience has always been positive. I’m not sure that the described experience is entirely Rockler however.

I am mostly online on my Apple tablet, as I am right now. But in the evening at home, I sometimes use my laptop which is a HP product using a Microsoft operating system.

Like the IPad, the HP (on MSN) tracks my interests and things that I have searched about will often pop up on the news page.

Last night a bunch of Rockler products were pitched, some on a horizontally scroll visual. There was one product that I was not familiar with and could not fathom what it did. I clicked the image and my Norton subscription interrupted me and warned me off the site.

So either the entire scroll of Rockler products was phony (though the products were easily recognizable) or someone hacked in a phony product to lure me into clicking it. Or my Norton protection subscription got fooled.

Has anyone else had a similar experience. I think Rockler has one of the better reputations in the woodworking field and would be a good venue for luring people.

If ever I'm feeling suspect of a site, I'll have a look at the URL to see if it's accurate. I don't know much else to do beyond that though!

The entire site looked and felt “Rockler”. It was that one strange product (which does not appear in their website) that frightened Norton.

When I am on MSN on my tablet, it never appears.

I tend to agree. There appeared two interesting looking drill jigs that I could not comprehend. I only followed one, and Norton put the kibosh on that.

There were also some fanciful, but absurd CGI Milwaukee battery driven tools that I never chased because I understood what it was supposed to do, and I thought it was CGI humor. But maybe those were CGI breadcrumbs meant to entice me to another Norton prohibited site.
