Well, I most certainly blew my tool budget this year...

The brake on my trusty and mostly accurate Hitachi miter saw was on it's last leg so, I did what any of us would do… take home a Kapex right?  Just got it set up, don't mind the single crown stop, dealer only had one in stock.  Now time to make some cuts!

Very nice! I am thinking of getting one for myself, I have missed quite a few used ones.

Very nice, I did the same this week as well. I won't post pics until I get a proper setup for it, but very impressed so far after dialing in everything.

Congratulations on the new toy. You are going to love it.

Thanks Don!  In the time I spent with it today, it's been pretty slick!

You'll be happy when you snatch one up!

But what is that horrible thing underneath?

LOL!  It's a $79 Ryobi miter saw stand holding up a $1400 saw!  I know… I know… it will be replaced soon!  I'm considering building wings off of the crown stops, I've got my eye balls set on using Incra's Track System.

Mine has been pretty spot on in the few minutes I've had with it today.  It's going to take a little getting used to the laser placement on this guy!

Nice score, Eric!!!

Thanks Willy!  That last frame (and the brake on my Hitachi) was the last straw!  [thumbs up]

Very nice!  I'm sure you'll never regret the expense.

You're absolutely right about that one!  I have yet to regret a Festool purchase, as they say, it only hurts once!

So, some of the things I've picked up on in the short amount of time I've used it:

- the Kapex is ridiculously light (all things considering)
- quieter than most saws I've had experience with (DeWalt and Hitachi)
- there is a dramatic difference in dust collection in that it is better than what I'm used to
- there is a dramatic difference in dust collection when using  a 27mm hose vs. the 36mm, it is almost night and day!  I don't have a 36mm hose so I used the small section off of my CMS; so now I need a 36mm hose!
- out of the box, it is dialed in pretty close, using the "two cut" calibration method
- it's just a really nice machine all the way around!

I'm sure there's more and I'll be sure to add or just start a new thread with a review.

Thanks all,
Eric

Year ago my dewalt was acting up. Was making a horrible sound. Some how I talked the bosses into buying the kapex!! It has been an awesome saw.  Just did a job where I was wrapping old  reclaimed oak 2x10's around some columns. Couldn't have done it without the kapex. I will say it didn't like beveling that old wood!!

Enjoy!

Congratulation, Eric - but don't expect any sympathy for your tool budget woes!

Yep me too just a month ago.

I wanted to best possible miter setup I could have in the shop so bought the Kapex and ordered FastCaps rails and crown stops to complete the setup.

I couldn't be happier with it.  Well If festool would mail me a $500 rebate I would be a little happier.  LOL

Enjoy your saw. Great choice.
