Went and did it. Big Festool purchase…..Again

Well I have a custom built in Breakfast nook. Honeydokreg will be happy as it involves bead board  ;D Need to build the cabs, face frames and doors.

So last night I ordered the Festool 118" track for my TS75, Domino,  Tradesman / Installer Cleaning Set, 2 festool quick clamps and Long life bag for my CT26. This week should be like xmas until the Credit card bill comes in.

I think all I need now would be the Festool Planer, 1010 of, LR32 W/55" track, and Festool D handle jig saw. Maybe a bunch of sys containers for the rest of my tools.  [big grin]

Funny that you mention the credit card bill since, mine came in yesterday with my Domino XL 700 and supplies on it - yikes [wink]

Yea the money from this job will pay for it but its a big chunk of change out of the bank acct. Been a rough couple of months, did another garage floor and the pump had a crack on the Honda 2700psi power washer. It lasted 5 years and a new pump was almost the cost to replace the whole thing so I went and upgraded to a Honda 3000psi with changeable tips. Hope thats it for a while lol.

But you will enjoy the Kapex more than any other mitre saw. I did that last summer and haven't regretted it at all. Kapex,TS75,CT26 and the new Bosch table saw (smaller than the one with the assist stand) all in one purchase but I paid cash instead of credit so it only hurt for a few days until I got the new tools. 

I seem to have more tools but they take up less space. Allowed me to thin out the older tools and sell them of for what I could get for them.

Im thinking on the Fast cap V2 but damn $800+ for a stand….. But I am tired of lugging around the Ultimate mitre stand...

That's quite the nice purchase, I generally pay cash for items and tend to have buyers remorse any time I spend over $100, hahaha.  I can honestly say after buying the domino, trion jigsaw, and ro90 I have not experienced remorse at all.  I'm probably gonna order a ct48 and mft/3 this week and we'll see how that goes. ???

Question but maybe I should start a new thread .. Looking to replace my current 16g finish nailer. It's good but a little on the rough side. I'd like something that makes cleaner holes, etc. My 18g is fine.
Thinking of going with one of the Grex but not sure about using a 23g. This nailer would be for nailing risers, skirts, etc.
Any suggestions?

Hey Holz, I honestly love my Hitachi nailers, I own a 15g, 16g, and crown stapler and haven't had any problems out of any of them. They break open easily if you have the rare nail jam, and they don't blast a crater into the nailed surface. Might want to check them out to see if they fit your needs. I do have a 23g grex but I really only use it putting delicate cabinet trim and things of that nature in.  I don't see how a 23g could replace your 16.

I use a Senco 15g crown or my Senco fusion nailers 18g and 15g. the only complaint I have about the fusion is one week battery. won't hold a charge over nite. Haven't used my compressor they past year and not having to drag that around out weighs (haha pun) any negatives with the fusion guns not that I have any complaints about them. The 2 fusions I have fit in a sys 4 with 3 batteries and a charger, they only fit one way, had to take a pic with my phone for reference each tim lol.

Hate parting with money to and haven't had any buyers remorse with Festools, Senco Fusions or Bosch tools.

For the stairs I would use a flexible glue and pin nail the risers. Stairs always end up with creeks from nails so when I can I use screws and plugs.

Now they came out with the 700 and I keep hearing a voice calling me and I think its the credit card.
Also looking hard at the 800 planer with stand to use it as a jointer

Nope But as long as it makes me money I really can't complain.

After seeing what Kreg did making that mantle and me not using my 6" jointer very much, Im thinking the 850 is just the  thing for me and it will open up some shop space.

It is an amazing tool and I would like to add one to my arsenal too.  However, I would not get rid of your stationary jointer if you work with solid timber -- face jointing is the most important thing a jointer can do and it is the first step to getting truly flat stock before running through the planer for thickness.  I would not want to do this work any other way.  Sure, for edge jointing there are lots of other methods that are quick and accurate, but trying to take out high spots with a hand-held power planer or with hand planes is not my idea of fun.  Just my opinion.

I just got off the phone with the guy,  He said he only used it for one job a year or so ago.

In the photos it looked new, So I told the guy Ill take it. Now I need to get the fence and cradle for it.

Yep Im going to try and sell my Porter Cable vac and drywall sander to help with the cost of the Planex. I will keep one crappy Ridgid 12 gal shop vac for nasty and wet jobs.

Im to the point if it does not fit in a systainer I don't want it  [cool]
