What a great Festool day Last Wednesday was!!!

On Wednesday, 29 June 2011 I attended a Festool promotional event at Seven Corners Hardware in St. Paul Minnesota. I would not have been aware of that event, if it had not been for Danny Hale, the new sales rep for the area, contacting me through the Festool Owner Group site.

BIG HINT: put your city location in your profile! If I had just put MN or USA He wouldn’t have invited me to the event.

At the event Steve Bace a corporate trainer showed cabinet building with the LR32 system and the use of the Domino system. The event was no cost, just had to take the day off work.

The quality of the presentation was a phenomenal. Steve Bace knows all the Festool products and is very good at communicating what they can do. I have Festool products and use them every day, I was able to ask questions about all my tools and get some very helpful tips. The hands-on aspect of seminar added very great value to this event. What Steve and Danny were able to show and communicated allowed me to learn a lot more about Festool products. Being a consumer for more than two years of Festool it was of great value and I really wish I had this encounter at the time of purchase as the Festool products are simple on one level but the system makes them complex on another level.

Steve's ability to work with the uneducated/hobbyists, the educated hobbyists and the professionals was great! We all learned a lot.

One gentleman new to Festool I think is going to spend about $5000 on Festool products to now build his own cabinets.

Please Festool do more of these events!

Yup, I can testify that Festool training sells a lot of tools.  No sales pitch, but you just gotta have that stuff after you have used it in class.  If you get a chance to take a class, jump on it!!

Man, I wish I would have known about this. I would have gone. I am at 7 Corners atleast once every other week. They are good people upstairs. I am a little depressed now.

Trust me, each of us can learn by spending time with Steve Bace and Danny Hale.

Since last November how often have I driven 5.5 hours each way from Burbank to Henderson, NV to take classes from Steve?

Golly in April I drove 2.5 hours there and 3.0 hours back because Steve Bace and Allan (our So Cal Festool Rep) were doing a demo day at In-Touch Tools. Of course those folks are good friends and as into Festools as I am.

I am so lucky that I live and work in a part of Los Angeles County with a selection of Festool dealers. It is no secret that I buy a lot from Eagle Tool. Still, I do what I can to support all serious Festool dealers. Sometimes we need to take a few hours from our work to meet and greet folks who share our passion without considering if doing so will make us immediate money.

You are so right... A big part of the pleasure of what I do is meeting and talking with like-minded people. Even if we can't agree on everything, we can agree that we like quality.

Learning from Steve Bace and Danny Hale is worth it.

But I won't sell the other Festool owners short. I learned a lot from them also.

Steve showed how to set up the MFT/3 with all the kit it comes with.

I stated how I had the table for about three months before I figured it out as I bought it from Rockler and they are clueless. I asked if others had taken a few months to figure how it all went together?....  At that point almost to the person everyone looked down a the floor and mumbled "Me too".. We all had a good laugh!!!

Just getting Festool owners together is a great thing as we can learn a lot from all of our experiences.  Having Steve Bace and Danny Hale there is icing on the cake and really was the fuel to get the conversations going. 

I have been looking at the LR32 system but have not had the need for it yet and the whole 32 system can seem overwhelming. Steve demystified it.

and now I also lust after a Domino....

Why don't you sign up and do it when there is a class?  The cost is ridiculously cheap!  You won't regret it!

It isnt the cost. The classes are very very reasonable.

Im on the list to be notified when the classes are .

But right now, Im in Southern Iraq till around Thanksgiving.

Then Im off again in June to another resort for about 6 months.

Maybe one day the timing will be right and I can get to one.

But if they have one in Henderson when I get back ill jump on it.

But in the mean time, I cruise the forums and look at the videos people post.

If you go to the member tab a the top and then search for "Danny Mack Hale" PM him and tell him to put you on the list for next time.  Also tell your local dealer to ask for another event.

I love 7C, but have never bought any Festool from them. The dealer I go to is Woodcraft. The have teaching shop that you can test the product in. In my book that is way cool!  When the RO 90 came in.. I took some scrap down and tested it. The result was yet another Festool tool I can't live without... so you might not want to shop there...... [drooling]

I asked them for a class and the guy that sets up training is looking into it. I have a call into them to find out where they are at with it. At the first talk with them they were not sure how many tools they could feature, salability of the class, etc. I wanted something like I experienced at 7C as I wanted to learn about 32mm and all of that.

After attending the 7C event, I could see how the demo that Steve Bace did could be easily adapted to building a Sysport Demo that would feature the LR 32 system, MFK 700 EQ Set, 1010 router with the kit, Domino system,  Kapex, Parallel guide set, MFT/3.   At this time I have not been able to purchase these product as I have had other priorities

I learned a lot at 7C Festool event, I want to get into the 32mm system and could use some sysports, for all the Festool that I have purchased. I don't yet have all the tools to make a 32mm project and I was hoping that I could learn and build a sysport or two in their shop with their tools 32 tools at class. I also asked them if they would offer a deal on the right slides and Casters I would buy that and I thought others would too.

What would be your expectations of a class? At free the 7C event was great. They would have to charge to pay for their trainer and I don’t know how 32mm trained their trainers are.

From what I seeing on the FOG site with all the training things being published here is a very large un-tapped training desire. I hope my local store sees this.

Moderators, should this not be a public topic? We can take this into PM if that is best. My hope is other dealers see the opportunity to promote Festool and themselves by doing something similar.
