Hi ,

Some advice please.

I need to scribe and grind in a lot of ply wood backed solid surface capping pieces. Which  abrasive would be best, it needs to be fast and dirty and last.

No Festastic [big grin]

Need dust extraction, used to use a zirconium disc (it was fast and dirty) now i have upgraded to all Festool sanders, not sure what is best to use. Crystal, Titan 2, Saphir etc. I do need fast and dirty and long lasting but with dust extraction [smile]

How you going man? Is your project coming along ok?

John

The zirconium discs, designed primary use was grinding welds. They are un holed and i could cover an entire site in dust in minuites [embarassed].

Alex,

Thanks for that. Will Saphir  be ok with the mix of solid surface and the 18mm ply?

I'm Good    still dreaming solid surface

The tops should be delivered in 3 weeks, doing all the prep stuff till then and am close to getting another job to refurbish a reception and 2 surgeries

Thanks for all the advice so far
Should have my RO90 by the end of this week and am getting clamped up just ordered 50 more

I watched a you tube video if some crown being coped
'Coping Crown Moulding with the RAS 115'

Man you do seem to do a lot of sanding

Yes that video is mine.  I have read on other forums that I need more practice.  The RAS can do better than I showed.  I agree.  I tried the RAS to cope for the first time in December of 2008.  The dust collection sucked.  I later found out that because of a previous project that I photographed here, the dust collection area on the RAS was clogged with paint chips.  I didn't use it again for coping until I did the video.  I don't do the same thing everyday - if I did I would be more proficient.

A firm / hard pad will make your life easier.  I learned that recently.

Peter
