What are the best wood drill bits and Forstner bits?

This is a pretty old topic, but I have used various makes and the quality varies.  One thing I have noted, is that for many, their greatest downfall is they are don't cut very well if the speed of the bit is too fast.  They will maintain their cutting edges for much longer if you don't rotate them much faster than you could using a bit and brace.  It's the same principle as using an auger bit.  Even the cheapest bit will cut better if you use the correct feed and speeds.  I still prefer my Festool Forstner bits.  The Bormax3 if you really have to plow through.  [eek] 8)
