What does your forum name/handle mean or stand for?

Its an old nickname, pre-internet that is the way I feel about the internet and the 95% of the info on forums.

John

My day job that pays the bills. Make a living flying a helicopter either fighting fire in the summer, or setting fires in the Spring and Fall.

Have a good weekend.

Phil

I was originally trained as an electrician by the Navy (back in the days of iron men and wooden ships).

Just my standard nickname. Been called Reiska since daycare due to none of the poor sods in Finland could pronounce Raymond correctly  [tongue]

Has something to do with the letters 'y' and 'd' not really been used in the Finnish language.

Its actually really odd for me to work nowadays in an international company with English as the official company language and have people call me my real name... missed a few questions in meetings due to not reacting to my real name at all...

With the last name of Gillis and growing up in the era of The Dobie Gillis Show starring Dwayne Hickman. When I did railroad construction working my way through college, the other guys decided I would be Dobie.

Leo

Stands for the brand of electric guitars I've played for a long time ( G&L Guitars last work of the great Leo Fender )
People used to ask me why I didn't play a strat......I'd say because I'm a gnlman.......I've had that handle even pre internet....

Mine is my initials/last name.  I also have a handle for most other places that is 'bbryanblr' as an homage to my name and my uncle's professional wrestling name.

nice thread... I like reading about this stuff.

Mine is a playoff of the bike I was riding when I first began participating in online forums. I use the same name for mountain bike and road bike furums. In 2003 my bike was a Specialized Epic Marathon which came with a mix of XT and XTR. At the time I had no idea how much I'd be using online forums for info and communication.

Jmb my initials

Some one had already used Jmb so I thought best way to remember my user name for this forum was to stick festool on the end seen as its a festool forum.

Well my name is Eric

I got the nick name from some high school basketball team mates.

Little embarrassing, but I've alway had a muscular build.  I had the biggest arms on the team….and the guys said it looks like have "rocks" for muscles.

So they started calling me "E-Rock".  The name stuck with me…..family members even call me erock.

Eric

The mainframe user ID given me by a client in the early 90's. My last name followed by the first 2 characters of my first name (Gary).

For some reason, I liked it and now use it everywhere.

Hey, I used to work for a guy named Gary Green. He was 1/2 of the Husband and Wife team who founded Performax - now SuperMax.

Although that's not me, it's a small world for my name.

When I lived in Philly, I had no garage to park my motorcycle (Honda 750), so I chained it to the power line conduit that fed my house. One night, a couple of low-lifes wanted it bad and stoled it. My neighbor across the street saw the theft go down. Knowing my name, he looked me up in the Whitepages and called the number. Wrong Gary Green. A Gary Green, an electrician, lived literally around the corner, one street over.

Oh, since it was not me, my neighbor went back to bed, without calling the Police. :-(

Mine is a combination of my wife's maiden name and my last name, Runkle and Gebhard: Runhard. I used to be a runner before my knee surgeries, that left me with almost no cartilage in my left knee. I will eventually need a knee replacement and I'm only 38 [sad].  I was always running to loose weight for wrestling and became pretty good at it, so I ran cross country in high school. I wrestled in college and actually ran CC my freshman year. The difference between high school CC and college CC was night and day, so was the conditioning for college wrestling and college CC. Since wrestling was my main sport and the conditioning was so different, that and the beginning of my knee injuries, I only ran CC one year while at college. I do miss being able to run, sometimes walking is painful enough.  [sad]
