In another thread there was comments about a possible new Centrotec set in the US. Shane (Festool USA employee) didn't have any info but suggested some one start a thread for comments for possible promotions. So, what would you like to see? Be sure to say what country you'd like to see your promotion in.

I'd like to see in North America a basic Centrotec set, a small set with the basic drill bits, maybe the brad point drill bits, a bit holder and just a few bits for the holders. Maybe it could come in a mini Systainer. The idea would be to keep the cost down, a starter set, if you will. I wouldn't mind seeing the a free T-shirt given away when you spend X amount and a golf/polo style shirt when you spend more.

So what do you want to see offered?

Thanks for starting this Brice.  Ditto on the Centrotec set.  I'd like to see the current one that's offered overseas or something like you're describing.  I really don't see the need for all of those individual little drivers, it's not like they wear out and I have yet to lose any from the other sets I have.  I have the C12 and love it but in my opinion I'm missing the boat without the Centrotec set.  I've been waiting for the release of the new assortment because buying it all individually starts to add up.

We have b een waiting for years for Festool to provide Robertson (Square Drive) bits.  If they were part of the kit, I would probably buy it.  Without them, forget it.

Actually, they do wear out. I don't have any of the Centrotec driver bits, I understand they wear out fairly quickly. The small driver tips that insert in bit holders wear out or break also. I buy Philips bits in larger quantity packs, I just bought the Festool Philips 10 pack of the regular bits and a pack of the pricey HIQ bits to try out. With daily professional use you can go through bits especially if you use an impact driver.

Frank, I'm not sure I get the fuss about Festool releasing Robertson bits. Like I said above I understand the Centrotec bits wear out fast. What your experience with them?

Brice, I don't have that much experience because I seldom use anything but Robertson screws.  I do have a couple of Philips centronic bits and they have lasted about 5 years (with the limited use that I make of them).

I would like to see more of a selection of items in each promo.  Like this current spring promo.  A lot of people already had most if not all the items you could buy to get the free item or promo.  Festool does not allow dealers to come down on the festool price or throw something in for free to make a good deal.  I know that If I send lot of money on something I like to negotiate with the seller to see if I can get a good deal.  Festool does not allow that.

So only having a limited number of items you can buy to get the free item or promo, that limits who can buy them and for the people that have spent thousands of dollars buying festool products, when do they ever get a break?

I'm not complaining about the price or the limited selection of promo's because I enjoy my festool's and I know what you pay for is what you get.  I will have many years of use out of these tools and I am happy with the price I paid for them.  It would just be nice to get something back after you've invested so much money.

Here's another thought, what about a promotion on festool accessories only?  Most of the time you have to buy the tool to get the accessories (promotion).  But how about you just have a promotion on the accessories by themselves?  This way, it opens up the door to more products and you will have a better chance of buying something you don't already have.

If I may add,  I would like to see the promotion products available through out the promo time period.  I purchased my TS 55 this past Friday and it was suppose to come with 2 free quick clamps per the promotion but my supplier did not have any left from the promotion.  He had some on his display wall but he said the clamps that festool sent him for the promotion sold out within weeks of the start of the promotion.

So availability of the promotion items would be a huge plus so we can actually participate in the promotions whenever festool has them.

Ditto to the shirts/hats, drill bit and tip set.

I dont really get into the promotions because I usually have those items.

How about buy a Kapex get a free Planex?  Huh?  Please?

Dave, I agree, it would be nice to get a rain check if your dealer doesn't have the promo item in stock.

Yeah, a bigger selection would be nice. I'd also like to have a few promo items to choose from, I know that may not be practical but it would be nice.

I think wear items make for a good promo, ie, splinter guards and the like. But there are some things like router attachments and bits that scream to be packaged together. edge trimming and a down spiral flush trim, for instance.

Others...

-jigsaw zero clearance inserts (probably not the name they give for em, but you know what I'm talking about) and blades.

-I know there's a TS accessory package, but a promo with rail strips for guide rails, and green things anti-tear out things for the saws would be great And as long as they're following the logic of keeping chips down, safety glasses to keep the chips out of one's eyes would be awesome.

-I'd love to see them offer a promo with the new systainer lid with the tray. It's currently only offered on a sys 2, but new pins and a new lid for whatever size systainer would be really cool. Seems perfect for router bits to me...

-Rack systainer. No brainer.

-Storage... the small sysport (1000?) with a sortainer would be cool. Or with a rack systainer. I know they don't have em anymore in NA, but I've seen em on fes.de

-Full size sysport with a new attachment for a boom arm... keep the tools and the boom arm together by putting the boom arm on the sysport.

-I think you can see a trend here... I'm not as big on the clothing as other people are. It's not that I don't appreciate the brand, I have 3 full sysports in my shop, and anyone who's seen me on site has witnessed brand loyalty in action, I use systainers for transport, as improvised sawhorses sometimes, whatever... But tools, storage, or expendables, are huge.

Brice,

It seems that until just recently every promo included a vac.  The question is, how many vacs do you need?

Now there have been a few promos that include accessories such as clamps or cutters with the planer.  Those make more sense.

The promo I would like to see would be a Festool Gift Card of say 10% of the price of the tool purchased.  That way you could use it towards any accessories you wanted that related to your purchase or maybe some Festools that you already have.  For example drill bits with a drill, a saw blade with a saw, or a bench top stand with a planer.  Or maybe you buy a drill but need some sandpaper for your Rotex.  The gift card would only apply to tools and not accessories.

Another option might be some kind of frequent buyer program.  If you spend a certain preset amount, you would receive a Festool Gift Card for 10% or whatever of the designated amount.  Of course you would have to provide some kind of proof of purchase.  The only problem with this is that it provides no benefit to those of us that are already pretty well committed.

What better promotion than cash or its equivalent?

Neill

I like that idea..

I also agree that they need to do something for the people who own the whole product line.

centrotec bit assortment with the Sysrack.
more paper assortment deals
keep blade deals going.
blade with saw deals should be ongoing
sander with paper assortment deals would sell more sanders. as was said, how many vacs does a guy need, but buying a sander with a sys full of paper should be a deal.

I would like to see a couple of different promotions.
First, it would be nice to bring back the introductory pricing when a new tool is released.
Second, I would like to see packages of the most often bought accessories for the tools.  Maybe they could offer a discount on the accessory package (off the individual prices) and  a discount on the accessory package price if you buy it at the same time you purchase the tool.

They have a guide rail accessory package that costs less than buying the items separately, why not offer packages for router accessories, etc.?  Then discount it more if you buy the router and the package at the same time.
Tom.

maverick:

The KAPEX Blade Set has been made permanent. So has the Boom Arm Set that comes with the handle, boom arm, and tool holder.

In addition, there is a Blade Assortment & Accessory Pack for the TS 55 and one for the TS 75. they have an assortment of blades and splinter guards. Some of us still have a few and the promotion ends today.

Another promotion that ends today is the Clamp Set.

The Spring promotions for the Jigsaws w/ free blades, the TS 55 & 75 with free quick clamps, and the HL 850 Planer with free undulating head also end today.

Tom

It started last Fall and I guess they didn't keep it active on their site.

Most of the packages only include two items.  What if one wanted to get the MFT3, the TS55 and a DC, as opposed to just two?  I'd like to see discounts for purchases of more than two large items, perhaps an a la carte sort of thing where you get increasing discounts with increasing purchases so that you can pick the ones you specifically want, rather than those that are packaged in a certain way.

How about something that included Systainers?  A lot of us use them for more than just storing the Festools they came with.

I would like to add some to store my nail guns, measurement devices, related hand tools, etc...  Perhaps a buy two/three get one similarly or lower priced for free.

They have one similar now with the 12+3 or the 15+3.  You get the systainer with the inserts.
