what is a like new OF 1000 router worth now?

It has a couple of bits too but I'm most interested in the price.

Also wondering if someone has made pig tail plugs to get rid of the long cords on the older equipment and be able to use the plug-it connections.

An OF 1000 in very good condition should easily fetch $250 and perhaps $300 if you're lucky. There's not really much difference between the OF 1000 and OF 1010.

As for the pigtails, they're not available in the US, probably thanks to UL again, but a number of people here had them send from across the seas and installed them on various tools.

How good a deal do you need to make when buying a Festool OF1000?

While it is true the newer OF1010 appears similar and they do share accessories, there were internal improvements. Also, the newest OF1000 was built in 2005, so the sate of bearing lubrication has to be questioned.

The USA$ price of the OF1010 new is $410.00

Good used OF1010 can be bought for less than USA$300.

So, use your own judgment buying an OF1000.

They've finally put and asking price in the ad of $375 which is too steep.  I will counter with something in the range you've recommended.
