What is the unmarked knob on the CT22

Right above the suction level knob is a black knob with two holes in it.  There are no marking on it and it is not referenced in the manual.

I would guess it is for a feature to be developed later, but maybe someone know for sure?

BTW: in my previous question I asked if the machine could be used without a bag.  The manual says the filter cleaner is only used without the bag.  So, it can't be all that bad to do if they include a filter cleaner for that event.

That's a good question regarding the knob, but it is highly recommended that the filters (either paper or Longlife) be used at all times. Not doing so drastically reduces the filter's effectiveness, the vac's suction and just makes a mess.

That's a cover plate for a hole unused in NA Festool vacs.

The Euro CTL series has a cover plate, too, while the CTM series has a control of some kind:

That cover plate is over is the location of a indicator showing insufficient air flow to sustain the required safety rating on the CTM vacs. It was mentioned a few weeks ago when there was a discussion about the possibility of a "bag full" indicator.

Maybe it's for an air hose?  I've seen pictures of some vacs with air-hose attachments for pneumatic tools.

The CTL series is for general use, whilst the CTM is designed for use with more hazardous dust.

Category L is for dust with MAK values >1mg/m3

Category M is for dust with MAK values >0.1mg/m3

A quick search found this explanation for MAK values:

"The MAK value (Maximale Arbeitsplatz-Konzentration) is the maximum allowable concentration in the workplace of a working material in the form of gas, vapour, or airsuspended matter which, according to our present state of knowledge, generally does not impair the health of the workers and does not inconvenience them unduly, not even on repeated and prolonged exposure for normally 8 hours daily under the condition of a weekly working time of up to 45 hours".
