I have a pair of MFT1080s and recently purchased another used one that came without legs, ok by me, but with this fence mechanism that neither of mine have. It seems too short for most things and the table attachment is different. Can someone help me identify what it is and how it is used?  Thank you

It looks, to me, like someone Frankensteined a miter gauge from a CMS and attached the MFT fence to it.

A little while before the MFT-3 arrived Festool provided this fence and a V shaped bracket that attached to the back rail of the MFT(800/1080). The new miter gauge is more robust than the original and the fence is tall. It could also be easily slid forward on the table for cutting sticks instead of panels.

I have one but I don’t think I ever got around to installing it.

I can see how it moves in and out but Perhaps the fence portion I received has been cut, it’s only 26” long. If it was as long as my other fences it might be useful. I guess it’ll go into the bin of unused tools.
