Hey foggers.
just got parallel guides for both side of the rail. Went to rip down some 8*4 sheet to find the 1400 rails dont span the boards.  Space is limited so need them as short as possible, what size do i need for a 8 foot rip. Going to get a 1900 for the 4 foot rip.

                        look forward your replys

Dear Luke

I do loads of cutting through of 8x4 sheets and I took advice from guys here on the FOG before buying...

I use a 1400 for cutting across the 4 foot direction and a 2700 for the 8 foot diection. I am using a TS 55. I am not sure but I think that a TS75 may need a dash more room.

Hi it depends where you buy your sheet goods if you buy it from the likes of jewson or b&q then the 2.7m rail will be fine if you buy from James latham or other proper merchant they sell larger sheets so 2.7m rails are a bit on the short side

i think you will need the 3m you can always cut it down alittle if need be and its only around £10 more for 3m over 2,7

Peter do you use the parellel guide system
No, but I can break down 8x4 sheets quickly and with no fuss with my 1400 and 2700 rails.

I use the 2700 with the parallel guide rails. Works fine.
My panels are 246.5mm long or slightly over 8ft.

I use 2 55" guide rails with the paralell guides.

I've never had a problem with them.

However if I were to do it all over again I would go for the 75" and 55".

That would give you enough of a length to securely attach the guide rails.

The 2 55s  work fine I use them but IMO the extra length would be better.

i use the 2700, as when I bought it I was not aware they had a 3000  but the 2700 works great and is long enough for sheet goods, I also cut lots of sheets down and use the parrell guides and boy do they save time

just always double check both ends for flush ness and also I always check the distance from the edge of the board to the first edge of the guide rail.... not the cutting edge the other one and measure the space from edge of board to that edge to make sure it is the same distance exactly then you know that you have set it up correctly.

enjoy and cutttttt away!
