What UK air couplings fit the Grex P650L

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, so please bear with me.  I've just bought a Grex P650L from Rutland Tools and I'm just trying to order a quick coupling hose fitting for it.

Does anyone know what UK or European fittings will connect to this. PCL fitting seem to be the norm over here but the U.S. Grex website states that the fitting is an NPT 1/4" coupling. I've tried RS components and Clarke but nobody appears to be able to help me.

The term "NPT" means National Pipe Thread, and is a U.S. standard for the size and shape of the threads. It is a tapered thread designed to seal as it is tightened. I assume the couplings you are finding are BSPT (British Standard Pipe Thread). I am not familiar with BSPT and have not researched it, but I did find one quick blurb on a forum suggesting that the two standards are close enough to be interchanged in a non-critical fitting such as an air coupling. You can try using one of your existing couplings that fit your existing hoses and see if you get several thread engagement. If so, then it will probably work fine.

Just for clarification, the 1/4" NPT does not apply to the shape of the quick coupling. Only the pipe threads. There are different standards for the shape and function of the coupling itself, and this will depend on the type of fitting you have with your air hose.

hello Nick,i own both the grex 23g pinner and the 18g brad nailer,like you I wanted to retain the use of the original swivel fittings on the guns as I think they are superior,i searched around quite a bit before I found the correct coupler here in the U.K. but eventually found a coupler to fit,it is called the 'legris series 23' and is very good quality,i bought mine from airline pneumatics here in the U.K. ,below is a link

I also have a box of four suitable couplers which I bought direct from the USA,they are probably not as good quality as the ones above but would be fine for your job,i would be glad to mail you one free of charge if you send me your address by pm,hope this helps,adrian

My apologies for not responding to your replies guys before, but I am used to being notified when a reply is posted on other forums and failed to notice that I had to click the Notify button to get one.

Managed to get a fitting from a neighbour who luckily happened to have one in his garage, but I will keep your link Adrian in case I need a new one in the future.
