Thinking about selling it to upgrade to the larger saw.

The 55 is 2 years old and has done about the equivelant of 2-3 kitchens worth of cabinets. ???

$350-$450 depends on location. You can try to sell saw only, and keep the rail track.  Do you really need bigger saw? Try it before you sell/buy new one.
Good luck!

As much as someone is willing to pay...

$350, maybe?   You might get lucky on ebay and make more.

Thanks guys,  my neighbor may buy it from me.

I would like the large saw mainly because I edge rip my rough hardwood (mostly 4/4) on one edge prior to face and edge jointing instead of trying to run the rough lumber across the table saw.

With Ripping blade you can saw up to 2" thick boards. Originally shipped 48 teeth fine blade is not the best choice for this task.

My ATF 55 (superseded by the TS 55) purchased in 2005 has asking prices equal to new retail on eBay and C/L.

4/4 is nothing for the TS 55 with a 28 tooth blade.  If you're doing beveled rips, that might be a problem.  I haven't tried that yet.

Yesterday I ripped about 250 linear feet of white oak with my TS55 and the factory blade with great results.  I have the TS75 which I use to rip 8/4 hardwood stock.  I used both, but the smaller saw cut great.  I do plan to get the ripping blade sometime but doesn't seem urgent.

I used another members TS 55 with 28 tooth blade to do rip cuts down the full length of what you could call a 24/4 oak beam.  It blew away the TS 75 with the stock 36 tooth blade and my Bosch worm drive framing saw.

[thanks] but it shows the importance of using the right blade no matter how powerful (or under powered) the saw might be.  I was getting some scary kickback from the TS 75.  No kickback at all from the TS 55 and it cut it like I was cutting a single sheet of ply.  Of course it didn't have the depth to completely cut through the oak.  This was all done without a guide rail, but with the accessory edge guide.

the right blade makes all the difference in the world...  In the shop I used to own,  I made a lot of doors (entry and passage) and stair cases  -sometimes 60-80doors per month + a staircase.    these were stave core doors,  -everything from rough,  hardwood staves and all...  all stair parts except turnings...  -LOTS of ripping + milling!
the typical 24 tooth 10" ripping blade on a 3hp 3ph cabinet saw and I'd burn up a motor every 3-4months...  a switch to 18 tooth thick stock blades + keeping them clean and sharp,  and I never burned up another motor...  -granted, this is 5-7 employees pushing a lot of wood,  but it makes a good point about the difference a blade makes.

By the way,  I sold my TS55 about 2mo ago to buy a TS75,  and I regretted it,  so I am looking for another TS55 so I have BOTH...  the smaller saw has its advantages alright  ;)  but any Festool saw I have used has been most impressive -with the right blade

Good point on the ripping blade, man do I feel dumb!

For some reason I didn't even think about that  ???

Is the ripping blade the same kerf as the fine cut blade it comes with?

The new blade (496305) is the same kerf (2.2mm). The older ones aren't (2.5mm).
