What's the deal with overpriced Festool products on Ebay?

Can someone explain this to me.

There often seems to be overpriced Festool products on Ebay that are above MSRP. I can only assume that these are not authorized dealers, but why the 300% mark-up. This current add is probably the worst offender that I have seen.

Buy-It-Now price of $208 for a $68 Kapex Clamp.

I can't imagine someone paying more for an item that they could order from any Festool dealer with free shipping.

It seems like something shady, maybe some kind of money laundering scheme? I don't know......

Does anyone know anything about these auctions?

Hmmmm.

Seller has a whole bunch of random products. Including another Kapex clamp for BIN of $172.38  ???  I think they are just  hoping an uninformed buyer comes along  ::)

I don't know.

Yeah then when you go to sell something on there yourself it goes for peanuts  >:(

every single Festool thing I have watched on eBay goes for silly money then I put something on the other week and it sold for less than half of what I expected it to sell for  ::)

I havn't had that problem. I recouped 75% on my ATF55 , CT22 ,and first gen rails after five years of use.

These sellers are the same ones who sell floppy disk boot disks formatted in "My Computer" copying system boot files for $5+.

In the  last month or two on eBay most of the final prices have gone down on used Festools, in some cases so dramatically I have been tempted to by some stuff for seconds.

Brice,

This thing with eBay has been going on for some time.  I agree with Seth regarding the uninformed buyer.  The strange thing about these clamps is that you have to have the Kapex in order to use them.  They might be adaptable to the MFT.  In either case you have to have SOME knowledge of Festools.  Who knows if they might work with dog holes on a standard workbench, or buyers think they will.  Never tried.

On top of the ridiculous prices, you must also pay for the shipping.

What do they say about suckers...
