They also had two different kinds. My original hat was awesome and has frayed apart from wearing it for years. the promotional ones that came out after are nothing like the older ones unfortunately.

About the FOGhats:

That project was a follow up to the Fogtainers and likewise done to foster a sense of community spirit here.  Originally I had hoped to do additional runs of the hats, but due to the nature of the hats and how you must purchase them in volume, if you do not meet expected sales (i.e. You have extras sitting around that are taking up room that you have paid for) you kinda lose interest in doing it again.

I ended up giving and sending my excess to FESTOOL so that they could use them for some purpose or distribute them to friends of the FOG.

The financial costs, the additional opportunity costs, and the change in the forum over the past half decade, as well as the general economy makes it far less likely that I will attempt another project like this again in at least the near future.

But I will never say never.

Are there any places online that will do custom embroidered
hats like you can do with t-shirts and polo shirts?

Some of the t-shirt places have no minimum. I realize that bumps
the price per hat but it's still an option.

A project I worked a while back we made coffee mugs for everyone
with a color team photo printed on one side and company logo on
the other. The price was about $8/cup IIRC, it was 10 years ago.
Later on a couple people wanted additional cups. I was able to set
up a way for those who wanted more to go and purchase them on
their own and order as many as they wanted, one or a dozen or more.
There was a 3 week delay on the initial order, don't know how long
people waited to get additional mugs later on, but since they kept
the art work on file I guess it was slightly less of a wait.

Peter I'm glad I was part of the forum when you did both the systainers and the hats. The events went well above the call of duty. Thanx again for all the work you and Seth put into this ever, not always for the best, changing forum.

I have a friend that is setting up a customer embroidery business in the next few weeks. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to ask her about hats for the group. She is small enough that she might be able to do them to order for whomever wants one. Do we have artwork or a logo that we want to use, color scheme (as if I couldn't guess)? I'll be happy to reach out to her if there is interest.

Not sure Festool would let us organize something like that as this is their forum/website. Im not sure what's trademarked from the FOG and what isnt.

Back when Shane was at FUSA, I had asked about making some FOG items, it seemed like the company was willing to supply and approve use of the FOG logo.

So, maybe [member=57769]TylerC[/member] can chime in on any future use of the FOG logo on hats. Or T shirts. Or bumper stickers. or.........

Logistics are always an issue. I would be willing to take on such a project if there is approval and enough demand...

Maybe we can put up a poll before we lock anything in. We haven't really started this project yet, so I don't want to get too far ahead of myself or step on my coworkers' toes.
