I can’t find my warranty card and don’t see a serial number anywhere on this. It’s the chip separator CT CYCLONE CT-VA-20. Anyone know where the it’s hiding? There’s a 2” panel with a tab at the bottom on one side, but I don’t know how to open it.
Also, it’s connected to a MIDI and sucking dust and chips out of a CNC. If I am lubricating the cuts with an occasional squirt of WD-40 the aluminum chips will have an oily residue. Should I not turn on the extractor for those cuts? Will that void the warranty or have any other negative effects?
Aside the serial number, the best for your use case is to include a simple pre-separator for the liquids and other rough/hot parts etc.
Any simple "ash" pre-separator will do here if you want to go cheap or you can look for some professional solutions used with centralised dust extractors in metal shops. The idea is that any dangerous/hot/etc. stuff gets captured in a (metal) resilient pre-separator and does not get into the vac, or the cyclone in your case.
Though, for aluminum and such, I would consider skipping the CT-VA altogether. It really only make sense for fine dust like wood or plaster. It is a total overkill for metal working and is vulnerable to both the metal chips as well as any oils you mention. The cyclone unit will probably be fine but the bin is from ABS I believe which does not like solvents ..
You are better off with the "metal can" pre-separator and then directly to the vac, skipping the CT-VA.

The Cyclone cannot be registered as a tool. It is an accessory, like the MFT/3 table (although the table has a SN).
Err, from what I undertood the CT-VA is indeed classified as a tool - as far as the support model goes.*) The same as the MFT/3 is. That is why they have their owns "items" in eKat and parts availability guarantee covers them. Whether they can be registered or not is a separate issue.
Not all tools (must) have a serial number.
I have a bunch of older (TTS) Protool tools and even some of the powered ones never had a serial number on them. Yet they were covered by a 3-year warranty and had the 10-years parts availability guarantee ... and I have them registered under MyFestool. Go figure.
EDIT:
