Are you from Down Under (Or a Kiwi)?
Please indicate if you intend to enter the Video Competition  Shane is organising, by posting below.
This data will help him to obtain a prize from Festool Australia.

So far Locky and I have indicated our interest. Perhaps Kev too?

[I have taken the liberty of starting a separate thread, after reading the enthusiasm for this competition on 'GB Crew', and in the hope of generating more interest from Down Under.]

I wonder if festool aus will want us to choose a specific tool like Shane has asked

Hi Locky,

I have the impression that the Domino/Planex is an additional category for US members.

It would be good if the tool and task was more open to choice for us particularly if there is only one prize/category available.
Eg. I took some video of my ROTEX in action today, as I am restoring an old cedar door.
As you are about to do some renovating, I imagine there would be many different themes/techniques/tools
     to choose and show.  [wink]

------—-–-------------

Looking fwd to other OZ members putting up their hand here!?

I need some time and inspiration (mostly I've just got painting in front of me, with associated patching, etc). I'm waiting on a start date for a new contract - the date will dictate how much time I'll have up my sleeve for fun.

For US and Canadian members there will be prizes for winners regardless of tool. However, Planex and Rotex videos will have an additional prize. Just to clarify.

so where do we post the videos for this competition?

I am sure that Instructions on where to post will be forth coming. In previous contests like this we have had a separate thread.

Peter

I see festool Aus put the comp up on their website

That's good, hopefully there will now be a great more number of Oz entries, to make it all worth while.

I want to enter.... but finding time to film has been impossible.  I was away overseas for a few weeks and only back to work this past week and then there is the family commitments.

I took my camera gear today with the intention of doing something but getting the Job done became more a priority than anything else, and couldn't spear the time playing with my Camera
I have a concept in mind to film my job this coming Monday, but thats deadline day.... mmmm hang on it will only be the 19th in the US so i guess that gives us in OZ till the 21st to get something in (20th in the US)..... might get this done yet

Yes you have to give Locky and I some competition, go for it if you can.  [smile]

Remember it does not have to be edited or complex.

Guys, I think Festool Australia may not see the benefit without more entries. The weekend still remains, so get those cameras/smartphones and shoot some video!

Make it "take your kid to work day" and have him record you doing whatever it is you wanted to show.  Edit it all together then voice-over if you weren't able to narrate while working.

It is sad that Festool Australia may not see the value in doing a contest like this with little participation. I mean they didn't promo it, didn't start with the others, and it's an after-thought after FUSA suggested the idea... what could they expect?

I think that there hasn't been to many entries cause of the time, being close to Christmas.
It's alright for me as I'm on the worksite and just get the apprentice to shoot it.
But the last competion FAUS did the got a lot of entries and I assume it was very effective only one of us won on here

+ 1 Locky.

Also -
1. If you think about the population/member ratio to entries, at this point in time we are IMO doing as well as NA.

2. As In US in many areas of AUS we have been dealing with severe weather events over past two weeks.

3.  And, as Paul says FAUS were extremely late to the party with their publicity.

I also agree with Locky re Christmas New Year, although alternatively this down time could have provided opportunity for Testimonial like entries.

I have another entry, with one take to go, but that is not going to happen today. It's already 27c at 8.15, with top expected of 43 and extreme fire danger. My shed is not A/c, few non commercial workshops are in AUS.

But it is easy to make excuses. The bottom line is that all AUST members need to get cracking. The possible reward for your efforts  is a significant one.

And it will be cooler this weekend and unlike NA we also have Tuesday!  [big grin]

EDIT.

246 views of Chips and Dust since it went up Tuesday morning AEST. That's publicity for Festool, but cannot know how many views were in Aust.

Better get busy guys.  You guys want the chance for future contests?  The cost per review is pretty steep here.

Peter and Shane, how many FOG members are in OZ? I know Shane that you have sent out an email to I assume all FOG members, do you think an Aust only email would be effective?

If you were to do it, note that it is Friday 12.50pm AEST here, and I see that even if you read this very soon you are working 'for your love of Festool' and nothing else!   [eek]

I am sorry, I don't have any way to sort or search by countries.  Perhaps my post was too late to try and encourage.  I sometimes get hyper and also frankly surprised when turn out for contests isn't what I would have expected.  My apologizes if I have offended any OZ members.

Peter, you have offended no one, just stated a possible reality. Have to say though I am also surprised by number of NA  entries.

Anyway fingers crossed for the weekend.

At my weekend work, a couple of years ago a customer won a Makita competition with prize of trip to Monaco GP. According to my boss there was a low number of entries, and this was Aust. wide. Contrastingly, as stated by Locky the recent FAUST. Slogan competition seemed to generate plenty of entries. All they had to do for the Makita comp was fill out a form, hardly any effort. Go fathom!?
