Which P/N for rotating hose adapter CT-VA-20 on CTL-MIDI (new model)?

Hello,

I bought the the CT-VA-20 and the new CTL MIDI. The CT-VA-20 comes with a hose connector that is on both sides angled.

Im aware that the CTL-VA is officially not supported, but because of some good experiences here on FOG, I pulled the trigger.

They moved the connector to the center right, and the angled connector doesn't fit.

Know I want to replace one angled connector it with a straight connecter, but not sure which P/N that is? I'm looking at FT P/N 500672, but simply not sure because the hose of the CT-VA is ribbed, while the hose of the CTL is smooth.

Thanks!

Interesting question; I'm not sure there is one.

The hose appears to be a straight (i.e. not tapered) 32mm. I went back to 2017 catalogues (before smooth hoses) and the only D32/27 connector is a right angled one for the Mini/Midi and CTL SYS. There are no D32 or D32/27 rotating adapters; the part number you mention is in the 2018 and 2019 catalogues, but for the smooth, tapered D32/27 hose.

The only thing I can think of right now is the CS 50/70 adapter hose, Order No. 499196, which was often used because you couldn't get the Y connector from the CS extraction set in to the old Mini/Midi. Not sure how that would affect operation of the cyclone though due to the additional hose length it would introduce. I guess it wouldn't be too much of an issue?

Hi Garry, thanks for your response.

I contacted FT yesterday, and even they where puzzled. After talking to some people, they told me its should be the "D 36 DAG-AS/CT – 202860", since the hose of the VA is 36mm (seems to be right). Never the less, they didn't sound all to be sure. Apparently I'm the first, with this combo (and officially its not supported). Pity these parts are not in EKAT. Would make life way easier!

I can say that it all fits perfectly, other then the hose connector, I'm sure once I get the new connector, it will be perfect. I'm not getting the feeling its unstable at all. Seems like a really great combo!

It's not a 36mm hose. I'll take some photos and try a 36mm end on it for you. Bear with me...

They're wrong. It's definitely not a 36mm hose. It's 32mm.

36mm fittings on the CT VA hose; there's no way it would work.

Interestingly, although individual parts of the hose aren't available on EKAT, the hose is, and at least in the version I'm looking at, it shows a straight connector on one end!!!

Thats weird, I measure the between the ribs, and I'm getting ~ 36 mm, the adapter that screws on is ~ 40mm. Any change they upgraded the VA tube?

Pictures, the adapter ring I measure inside at the very beginning..

On the tube I measured the 1st thread (between the ribs). Outer dia tube is ~ 40 mm.

Just ordered earlier today the 36 mm, as FT suggested (#202860), so we will see if they now there stuff  [eek]

LOL.  [blink]

Thats what it should be [tongue], well we will see, let you know! Thanks so-far!

Same measurements (roughly) for me, but it's a 32mm hose.
Aha! Yeah, I got 32mm on the inside as-well [blink]. Grrr.

Then it it should be the Festool D 32/27 DAG-AS/CT (#500672) ?

The #500674 is the angled one (the factory version)
// Rotating angle adapter D 32/27 DAG/90°-AS/CT for antistatic suction hose D 32/27 on CTL MINI and CTL MIDI

Simple piece of hose, and so much of trouble....

Let's hope it is. That is for the new smooth hoses but when I've just disassembled my D36/32 smooth hose, it does have a ribbed end, so I would have to assume the D32/27 would too. Perhaps it will fit after all? Fingers crossed...

If you look on the inside of your CT VA angled one, you'll see a part number of 10027480, so different somehow.

I think your right. They where hesitant and I already got a feeling something was not right. I wrote the supplier, I will swap it to the "Rotating adapter D 32/27 DAG-AS/CT", that makes more sense. Since the angled one (where the specifically explain its for the CTL MINI/MIDI has the same diameter 32/27).

I report back (will post separate topic which part it needs to be, pretty sure more people would like to do this).

I have to say, FT could have made this a bit easier... (the hose connections in general are already a nightmare imo).

Anyway thank you for all the help, much obliged!

Great news it works.

I'll drop that particular piece of information in my little black book for future reference!

Funny thing. I bought a CTL-SYS and later a CT-VA-20. Everything fits well but the CTL-SYS relief valve kicks in a lot. So I sold the CTL-SYS and bought a CTL-MINI, also for the other features like regulating suction etc. To my unpleasant surprise, the CT-VA-20 hoe did not fit, as descibed above. But I found a straight adapter to replace the angled adapter and then it fits and operates perfectly. The thing is, I don't know if the straight part came with the CT-VA or with the CTL-MINI... It does not look like the part in this thread at all btw.

Hello Sir's,

I also just got the Midi and had the CT VA...next to the angled hose, i also got a strait one, just the plastic, and you can switch one side, so the short hose becomes a strait on one side and 90 angle on the other...so the midi can be used without any adapter, just replace the one end on the short hose...

Old thread I know. But this is how they are delivered now. I think it is great that Festool does that. I keep the angled part, and spare carbon brushes in the CT VA..
