My non Festool saw of choice is an older now discontinued Porter Cable 7.25 with the left hand blade.  The dust chute is at the front of the saw and I have managed to hook up dust extraction to it.  By itself it eliminates the rear chute dust in the eyes/ face common with other designs.  I love the left hand blade for visibility.  If I have to replace it I will have few options and probably will go with the Bosch left hand.

This is the path I took - PC to Bosch.  I used a copper 90 to spray the dust whichever way I wanted in my older PC left.  I am right handed and like the visibility of the milwaukee right.  I favor the brake for safety.  I don't know why you can't get a lefty with a brake.

I don't understand why it is so hard to get a lefty except in a worm drive.  I found another Porter Cable like mine at a seldom visited flea market a while ago.  Might have to check to see if it is still there.

Happy sitting!

Wormdrives make me tired just looking at them!  I've never needed that power.

Both of my P-C sidewinders (6" and 7-1/4") are lefties.  Visibility was the big thing for me, too.

That's funny - it was only a week or so ago when I put a regular festool circular saw on my wish list (the festool wish list forum) for cutting things like Pressure Treated stair treads (for dust collection of course).  I use a Makta 7 1/4" (corded).  I rarely use my battery operated makita lxt.

7.25" for me, an Evolution Rage III saw.  I mainly bring it out when I expect to encounter nails in my cut paths.
