Which systainer for syslites?

I have two SysLites and a couple of Systainers to try.

The two lights will fit a Sys 1 without the soft cases, and without the expanded foam filler in the Systainer lid. The SysLites must be on their backs. You could perhaps fit three plus various charge cables in a Sys 1 that way. They just barely fit the available height this way, and you'd probably want to make some custom foam padding to keep them organized and prevent rattling around. The X ribbing in the base somewhat restricts where the lights can fit without binding on the lid.

If you want to keep them in their soft carry cases, those definitely won't fit in a Sys 1. They'll require at least a Sys 2, with or without the foam filler in the lid. You could fit four units in their soft cases in a Sys 2 just perfectly, or two plus a couple of compact tripods. I use ClamperPods, which are like C-clamps with an adjustable tripod head on them. Very handy, and they fit in the zipper pouches.

I don't have a Sys 3, but seeing they definitely fit the Sys 2...

Hope that helps!

Festool sells a special Syslite SYS 2 systainer which contains 4 Syslites.
It's probably meant for resellers to place on the counter of the shop.
Who wants/needs 4 Syslites?
But the systainer is a special edition and not sold empty.

I think it's a very nice looking systainer and Festool should consider to change all their systainer to this color-scheme.
Maybe as a TTS company appearance change when Protool joins the Festool range.

The problem I see with real dark colored tools here is the sun.

I sold a bunch of black Stabilas a while back, 120th Anniversary Edition. One of the customers lived in Phoenix AZ. He took them to the (framing) job site one day and realized it was a mistake. They got so hot he couldn't hardly touch them so I traded him some yellow ones.

I was on a canoe trip one time on the Trinity river in summer and we left a bread sack out on top of an army surplus (olive drab) pack while going down the river. After about an hour or so, the bread sack had partially melted, to the point of distortion not liquefaction.

That's why I won't buy any of the anthracite systainers

The sys toolbox holds 4 nicely ... though I've only got 3 in it.

My thoughts as well.. 1000 watts per square meter is a lot of potential heat! I'd also be concerned for anything inside a dark Systainer on a sunny day, although it might work well for warming cookies for lunch. :-)

We used to warm our lunches with the welding rods.

When camping in Big Bend, I've used a black shirt to warm the tortillas for breakfast tacos.

lol! I agree with the dark color systainers..i touched a black speaker today that was sitting in the sun for 10 minutes and burnt the poo out of my hand  [eek]

So sys-2 for padded cased sys lights?

The syslite has become one of my most used tools, i cannot believe how i ever worked before. I now find my self chaising after it on the jobsite because it tends to "magically move"  [blink]

Im going to add a 2nd one immediately and probably add 2 more  at the end of July. These lights couldnt be any more perfect for wiring up racks, crawling though crawlspaces or wiring up in a rack room on a jobsite that doesnt quite have power yet. My industry is very "dark" if you know what i mean ;)

Well if you're going for four then keep your eyes on Ubay UK for an empty Syslite Systainer.  [cool] Just don't put it in the sun.  [thumbs up]

Painters. We tripod them and plug them in. Ideal cool, white lighting for interior painting and wet surface inspection. On a crew, if you just have one Syslite, way too much time is lost looking for the Syslite or fighting over it.

Hi All.  First post here although I've been lurking for a long time now.  (And thanks to Shane for getting my registration un-stuck, and my friend 3PedalMINI for pinging Shane for me!)

I'm in the same line of work as 3Ped and like him, the SysLite - as simple as it is has quickly become one of my most valued tools.  I too am going to be picking up at least one more of these and probably going to put it in a SYS 2 along with the chargers and probably a GorillaPod.

I use the heck out of the one I have and often find myself in need of a freshly charged one when working in a darker room, closet, cabinet, or equipment rack.  Final power isn't always completed when we're on a project so I can't always 'just plug it in' to keep working where I need to.

The ClamperPod that BravoRomeo mentioned looks very interesting.  Haven't seen those before.
