which Vacuum for a Planex - long reach sander...??

Hey there.... I've have the simple question for you, which vacuum will work with the Planex- Long reach sander?? I have never used the sander, just bought it because was incredible cheap. The vacum will only be used in my own home aka Danish handyman :-). I'm thinking of buying the CTL mini because of the small fysical size and price, but will it be able to work with the sander???

Hope you get what I'm asking, my american is a little rusty (writing from Denmark ;-) )
 
they sell it with the ct36 aswell on festools site but i am sure best people to ask would be festool or a uk or eu dealer as i think its naina
 
Read a bit more and the extractor supplied are m rated for the fine dust so that means the ctm26 would be the smallest you can use i think
 
well the m-rates I see as an indicator for the requrements for working conditions on sites... not in private home... for my sake a little dust is alright :D But i'll call festool tomorrow and hear them..
 
just note the planex extrctor is 3600l/min were as the ctl midi is 2800l/min so a ctl 26 may be way to go at 3900l/m as it has the power but if you dont mind not being m rated. I have a midi and wish i had a 26
 
what problems are you having with the mini???? can't it take the dust from the TS family??? The tools it will be used for is

not mini the midi. just too small for my requirements and alot less power than i would like as in less power than a £80 vacum
 
hmm thats not impressive... I can hear i'm have to go by an festool dealer an try them out.... The mini is about 400 dollars i Denmark and the 26e is twice that...
 
If you're not a pro then the Mini, Midi or CT22/CT26 will do just fine for occasional work with the Planex. Of course the SRM45 Planex is best suited for the Planex but that doesn't mean other types don't work. After all, you only need a machine that just sucks.

One problem I do know of with the Mini is that when sanding drywall you will loose a lot of suction when the bag is only one quarter full. This is because the pores in the bag fill up quickly with the thin drywall dust. So you might go through a lot of bags. I think this problem will be a lot smaller with the new CT26 because of the self cleaning bags. I don't have this problem with my CT22 because I use the long life bag with it and it doesn't clog so fast as the paper bags.
 
do the long life bags not exist to the mini??? The sanding of dry wall will be to a minimum, I just want to make sure that the CTL mini could work with the planex sander.... would be stupid not have a vacuum there's able to hold the planex onto the wall or sealing...
 
Just a note about vacuums and the Planex.  Vacuums designed to work with the Planex are designed, I believe to work without a filter bag and use a self cleaning system for the filters - the old SRH (not made by Festool) and the new CTM36 both have a system which automatically cleans off the filters every few seconds.  The system on my SRH has never worked properly so I have just disconnected it.  I now use filter bags with it when using the Planex.  I used to have two pleated filters and kept swapping them, cleaning with compressed air + quite a mess everytime I changed out the bin bag type sack designed to use with the PlanexJust means I have to factor in the expense of quite a few bags as you loose suction with the very fine dust. (They tell me if you are good at plastering/spackling you won't need to sand much at all  ;D ;D )
The CTM36 is a lot more powerful than the Midi or mini and is more convenient than the SRH which is a beast to transport.  For small amounts of sanding I have used the mini with the planex, but the emphasis is on the small.
If I had the funds for a new vac I would get the CTM 36

The new vacuum that's self cleaning (and can be used without the bag) is the CTM26/36 AC. The CTM26/36 is just a standard 'new' vac with the newer collapsing bags.

There is a specific model for the Planex, which comes with the correct 'planex' hose and toolholder,which is the CTM36 E AC-LHS, although for some reason that is currently only available in a 110V version...
 
Thanks Jonny - I new there were some other letters to its name - I was just too lazy to go and find them.  I played with one at W10.  I would like one but having just bought a Lamello glue pot will have to make do with the new "Henry" I picked up for £92.  My better half thinks that 3 festool vacs is enough!

thank you everybody.. I ended up with the mini because i'm using the vacum along with TS55 most of the time :D And it is soooooooo small :D
