maybe I can finish some projects that have gone stale.  Some wall paint touch-up, closet drawer self closing slide installation and?  I've got all the supplies, just need some ambition.  The shop could use some clean-up, too.  I think we should all make use of the downtime.  Anyone seen my tape measure(s)?

This kinda reminds me while I was “parked”in December 2012. I had a week or so at home because we were between job ending and starting.
It was pretty nice to clean up all the off cuts from under the table saw.

I’m using this time to do some projects around the house also. In the process I had to make crown stops for the Kapex. Another shop project is to make rail hangers to go on the garage door.

judging by the orders continuing to come in at TSO, quite a few woodworkers are taking advantage of the opportunity side of the current situation to get on with projects.

A healthcare professional being interviewed made an observation I found timely. He said one way to stay healthy is to keep your immune system strong by -
- getting plenty of rest
- lowering stress by limiting the intake of news - practice good information hygiene, he said.

Hmmmm . . .

Good thread....I am really enjoying more time with family as I regularly travel for work. I also am taking advantage of the time to finish some projects and maybe even start a few more with leftover lumber from other projects. Tinkering with tools and general shop clean-up as well.

In Germany schools have been shut down for the past week and we are expecting a government order to „stay at home“ coming, since a lot of people do not listen to the advice given.

Most shops are already closed (grocery stores are open and well stacked, no issues getting what you need at all.) and most likely the home improvement stores will also shift to a „necessity driven“ opening for tradesmen only.

I went for a „shopping spree“ today to get everything I could think of to have what I need to finish the ongoing projects in the shop.

It is really a strange thing, like it has been said here, I enjoy the time with my spouse, and look forward to the shop time. But due to the pending travel restrictions, the rest of the family will most likely not be met in person for some time.

Stay save, wherever you are. In the Shop an outside. ;)
...and keep being such a great community where one can spend time with likeminded people to take the mind off of the strange chaos for a couple of minutes. :)

Yeah,  stores like building supply will need to be open in some capacity as people need to do stuff.  Being able to get things will allow people to stay busy and active which is good.  No one is going to be able to start a large project (like building a house), but they certainly need to be open for some stuff.

Same applies for some other hobbies.  Places that sell materials that folks need to stay in their homes and stay occupied.

Obviously supply chain issues will come up. There may just get to a full stop period for a few weeks.

Ive been thinking about how Im going to set up my new garage lay out cabinets etc, and a new built in gun case. Since my tools are all packed up not much more I can do. Though I have been spending a lot of time on you tube looking at project videos and how to videos etc

Used my first day of isolation (I work from home mostly anyway so my weekdays haven’t changed yet) to get after some delayed projects and maintenance stuff. Concern about an unsettled future guided choice of project, like installing a rear deck camera and checking/replacing flashlight batteries. Lots of noodling on what-if’s and what do do to prepare.

Stay safe and wash your hands...

Jobsworth, I’m also in your shoes. I just moved north a few weeks ago. I finally got the house under control. Now I’m starting to deal with the shop.
Most of my big tool were stored in a container for two years while I moved to Rutherford.
I bought a 1500sq ft commercial building in town. I need to remove a few wall inside. Starting to consider insulating the floor.
Just got an alarm system installed. Some the fun begins. Film at eleven

I found 8 hours of online meetings painful so I’ve started to add lots of breaks to my schedule.

Last week I got my Prusa 3D Printer finely tuned. Make a tweak, do a 30 min print and repeat. To time consuming for a typical weekend, perfect for working from home.

This week I’m going to focus on my Shapeoko CNC. I did too many upgrades in one go and really need to tune it and get it nice and accurate.

After that my honey do list will get some attention. Finishing the trim in the attic I built for the kids will be appreciated by everyone :)

I finally ran conduit in my garage and installed an outlet near my bike and electric yard tools.
Now I can charge without having to run an extension cord across the garage.
Those little things that make things easier, but always get put off for more 'important' things.

My wife has a whole stack of those 'honey do' type projects too...  [eek]
