My wife, Phyllis, wanted a piece of furniture that would allow her to display some of her favorite "stuff" as well as some hardback books.  I saw this plan originally in a copy of Wood Magazine last year and used it to build the display shelf unit shown below:

Below are a couple of photos of the finished project.  The material used was quarter sawn white oak.  There are some interesting rays in the wood.  Festool tools used in the project were my double MFT with guide rail and TS55 for lots of cuts, as well as the MFT's for glue-ups.  The joinery is primarily biscuits.  If I owned a Domino, I would have used it, but I could not justify the Domino for this project.  I did lots of sanding with my Festool Rotex RO150, ETS 150/3, and DTS 400.

David any project can justify a new tool.  BTW the shelf looks great.

Looks great. Is it all solid oak, no plywood?

The four adjustable shelves are plywood.  I ran out of white oak making the top and bottom shelf.  The plans called for plywood shelves and I had some oak plywood in my shop, so I dutifully followed the plans.  The shelves are banded on all four sides with white oak.  The shelves are pretty much covered with books, so nobody knows but me.  Smile.

And, now us.  ;D

David, very nice project.  I want to share this with you for future reference.  I am a huge fan of Craftsman style furniture; the simplicity and clean lines really trip my trigger.  I have good friends here in Lincoln that restore Billiard tables and the have just launched this site.
